Friday Korean BBQ in Dongnae, Busan: staff-grilled pork, Yukmildo

Yukmildo Dongnae Direct Branch is an aged-pork Korean BBQ restaurant right next to Megamart by Dongnae Station in Busan. On a Friday evening the writer booked ahead and ordered 2 servings of whole-cut pork belly, 1 serving of aged fresh pork neck and a stone-pot cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew), and was won over by the thick cuts grilled by staff, the gracilaria seaweed, kelp and salted hairtail pairing, and the wide range of sauces. 5 Budu Twigimjip (5부두튀긴집) is a beer pub built around Korean snack food, tucked into an alley in Bujeon-dong near Seomyeon Station in Busan. On a second round with former coworkers, the writer had Busan-style rice-cake tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) simmered at the table, chewy sundae (Korean blood sausage) with offal and big cheese-stuffed chili fritters with draft beer, and the many sauces kept the fritters from getting heavy. For a second round of snacks and draft beer in Seomyeon, 5 Budu Twigimjip is worth recommending.
