Sea-view beef BBQ with snowflake chuck flap in Dadaepo, Busan: Hwarou
In short
Hwarou Dadaepo is a charcoal-grill beef restaurant on the 7th floor of a building in Dadaepo, Saha, Busan. With the Dadaepo sunset fountain show off on Korea's Memorial Day, the writer went to Hwarou Dadaepo instead, ordering the Hwarou A set (rib finger, hanger steak and chuck flap) and makguksu (buckwheat noodles); the sea view through the floor-to-ceiling windows and the tender snowflake-marbled chuck flap stood out. Hwarou Dadaepo is an ocean-view beef spot that more than made up for missing the fountain show.

Hwarou Dadaepo, our pick when the sunset fountain show was off
Hwarou Dadaepo is a beef restaurant we ended up at on the Memorial Day holiday. We'd gone to see the Dadaepo Dream Sunset Fountain Show, but it was closed that day. It had been a while since I'd been to Dadaepo, and the show was resting. 😭
Leaving the disappointment behind, I searched like crazy for good places nearby and ended up at Hwarou Dadaepo. The view and the food were so perfect that they blew away the letdown of the fountain show in one go, so I'm sharing it right away!

Dadaepo sea view through the 7th-floor windows

Hwarou Dadaepo has huge windows on every side, so the Dadaepo sea opens up in front of you at a glance. The moment I stepped out of the elevator on the 7th floor, I couldn't help gasping.
The second I walked in, I understood why Dadaepo is famous for its sunsets and views. The interior is clean and stylish with marble tables, and it felt like a classy café, perfect for a family meal or a date.

Hwarou A set, side dishes and the self-bar
The Hwarou A set is a beef set of galbi-sal (rib meat), toshi-sal (skirt meat) and salchi-sal (chuck flap), and it's what we ordered that day. Hwarou is a charcoal-grill specialist where you can enjoy high-quality aged beef at very reasonable prices, and the set menus are great value.

The side dishes that go well with the meat were also served neatly and nicely.

If you run out of side dishes or vegetables, you can help yourself to more anytime at the unlimited-refill self-bar on one side of the restaurant, which I loved~

The Hwarou A set comes neatly arranged on a wooden board with name tags for each cut. Just look at that vivid red color, which comes through even in the photo! ✨ Seeing the nicely spread marbling made my mouth water before anything even hit the grill.
Snowflake salchi-sal, galbi-sal and toshi-sal: how each cut tasted

Snowflake salchi-sal
The snowflake salchi-sal had a truly outstanding tender texture. I grilled it first, and the sight of the juices rising as it sizzled over the charcoal was already something special. The rich flavor and juices filling my mouth made me want to dance in my seat~~ haha

Galbi-sal
Second up: galbi-sal! Grilled golden brown over the charcoal, it had a deep beefy aroma the more I chewed. It was pleasantly chewy with a rich flavor, the kind you keep reaching for. It was juicy too, so I really enjoyed it.

Toshi-sal
Last was toshi-sal! True to its reputation as a rare cut that only comes in small amounts from each cow, the flavor was really intense. The charcoal aroma added richness, and the texture was tender yet chewy, which I loved. The more I chewed, the more juicy savoriness came through, and I wanted to savor every single piece. 😋

Makhguksu after the meat, and the 7th-floor night view
I ordered makhguksu (buckwheat noodles in a tangy sauce) along with the meat! The sweet and sour seasoning coated the noodles well and woke up my appetite. Having a bite after the meat felt like it cleaned up my whole mouth! The chewy noodles and cool taste paired really well with the beef. 😋
Before I knew it, it was evening! I couldn't see the sea anymore, but the night view from the 7th floor was so pretty that we finished the meal in a lovely mood. 🌃
Who we'd recommend Hwarou Dadaepo to
- Anyone who wants an atmospheric meal looking out at the Dadaepo sea
- Anyone looking for a spot for a family dinner or a gathering with parents
- Anyone who wants fresh premium beef at a reasonable price
- Couples looking for an ocean-view restaurant for a date
- Anyone who values a clean self-bar and a pleasant restaurant
Overall verdict
We missed the Dadaepo sunset fountain show because of Memorial Day, but the meal at Hwarou Dadaepo was so satisfying that I didn't think about the disappointment at all. With its open ocean view, quality beef and friendly service, I'd recommend stopping by at least once if you visit Dadaepo. Next time I'd like to come back and enjoy the sunset fountain show too. I think it would be great if you came and enjoyed the fountain show as well~ 😊
