The first thing that catches your eye when you walk in is the gorgeous sea view through the wide windows. If you go in the evening, you can even watch the sunset. Grilling beef while looking out at the sea is a really special experience. I highly recommend Hwarou Dadaepo for a relaxed meal with a view.

The Hwarou Dadaepo menu offers a variety of beef choices, and what I recommend is the set menu! You can enjoy several kinds of nicely marbled meat. A set that lets you try beef cut by cut was easy to choose, with no agonizing over it.

The pre-arranged table setting and side dishes

I phoned Hwarou Dadaepo in advance for the ocean-view seat, and the table was already set when we arrived. The side dishes had been placed so they wouldn't get in the way of grilling, and the selection went really well with beef.

At the self bar you can help yourself to refills, extra side dishes and aprons. That made things easy during busy hours! The self bar also has extras that don't come with the basic sides, like seasoned dried radish, so be sure to grab some!

Hwarou Set A: great value, and the grilling order

We ordered the good-value Hwarou Set A. The three most popular cuts come together on one plate, so you can enjoy a variety of beef without worrying about what to order.

Hwarou Set A is skirt steak (toshisal), snowflake galbi (nunkkot galbisal) and ribeye cap (salchisal), a combination with fantastic marbling. We were hungry, so we just grilled whatever we grabbed first, but they say the tastiest way is to grill the flower galbi, then the ribeye cap, then the skirt steak, in that order.

How was the beef at Hwarou?

Hwarou has several branches besides Dadaepo, including Hwamyeong, and wherever you go you can enjoy good-quality Korean beef (hanwoo) at a good price. The Dadaepo branch in particular has that ocean view going for it, which makes for an even better meal. When we want tasty beef at a reasonable price, Hwarou is what comes to mind! This visit was another good experience, and I'm happy about it.

Hwarou Dadaepo meal menu: doenjang-jjigae and makguksu

For the meal menu at Hwarou Dadaepo, we ordered doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) and makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles). The stew is a must with meat, so that was a given. I hesitated between bibim guksu (spicy mixed noodles) and makguksu, and picking makguksu turned out to be a stroke of genius. Shredded cabbage and carrot came mixed in, and the mild sweetness of the vegetables went so well with the noodles that it tasted even better!
