I've been craving hanwoo (Korean beef) lately, so I went to Hwarou (화로우) at Natgae in Dadaepo. Hwarou Dadaepo is a place where you can grill charcoal hanwoo while looking at the ocean, and it's perfect for taking your parents too ✦
Where is Hwarou Dadaepo, and how's the parking?
Hwarou Dadaepo is on the 7th floor of the building at 58 Dasong-ro 84beon-gil, Saha-gu, Busan. It's open 16:00–23:00 (last order 21:30). For parking, use the building's 1st-floor lot, and if it's full, you can use the empty lot next door (free on weekdays, ₩1,000 on weekends).
Hwarou sits right in front of the sea at Natgae in Dadaepo, so the view is great. It's on the Natgae Ocean Plaza side, so it's easy for people who live in Dadaepo to wander out for a meal.
Parking around Natgae is secretly a pain, right.. So having two designated places to park meant I could drive over without stress, which was really nice.

Should you reserve an ocean-view seat at Hwarou Dadaepo?
If you want an ocean-view seat at Hwarou Dadaepo, I'd recommend reserving or going early. By around 6 p.m. the whole place was almost full.
Up the elevator to the 7th floor~~ The ocean view was much cleaner and prettier than I expected. There was one ocean-view seat left, but it was a reserved one.. no reason not to book ahead!! The hoods are all done in a copper tone, so maybe that's why the mood felt quietly upscale. ( ˙⤙˙ )
A Busan local's (=me) restaurant pick really is different, I thought!! ˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗
Side dishes and the self-bar
The side dishes at Hwarou Dadaepo come neatly on a four-compartment wooden tray: pickles, seasoned black beans, stir-fried shishito peppers, and some kind of pepper? It put me in a good mood before I'd even started eating~ ʚɞ
The sauces were already portioned out on the small plate: salt, soy sauce, wasabi and whole-grain mustard. You can dip right away, which I liked. ᵕ̈
A table packed with sides! There was lots to eat alongside the meat: lettuce wraps, myeongi namul, spring onion salad and garlic. (⸝⸝◜o◝⸝⸝)

You can refill these sides yourself at the self-bar. The myeongi namul is there too, so I could eat it without holding back 🤍

Hwarou menu and Set A price
You order by tablet at Hwarou Dadaepo, and we got Set A (₩44,500), which lets you try three cuts of beef. The set menus looked like good value, and they also sell pork belly, fresh galbi and marinated galbi.

I deliberated over the menu, and Set A, with three cuts for ₩44,500, looked just right.

Right after we ordered, they brought the charcoal grill and the meat. So excited⋆⭒˚.⋆ The owner sliced the meat right there at our table. Somehow that inspires trust.

Set A comes with three cuts, chuck flap (salchisal), rib finger (galbisal) and skirt (tosisal), prettily laid out on a wooden board, and we grilled them in that order: chuck flap → rib finger → skirt ꕤ

Chuck flap (salchisal): the most tender of the three
The first cut in Hwarou's Set A, the chuck flap, had really great marbling, and cooked medium and dipped in salt it just melted. They also give you cheese and corn to melt on the grill, so I was already looking forward to dipping( ˙⤙˙ )
Ta-da.. you have to grill beef only as much as you'll eat and eat it right away!!! I cooked it medium ₊˚ෆ I dipped the first piece in salt and it was so tender, ugh, it just melts…
It also goes well with wasabi and whole-grain mustard. Personally, this chuck flap was the tastiest of the three!! I always like tender cuts like this, so I enjoyed it so much.

Rib finger (galbisal): chew and juiciness
Hwarou's rib finger has more chew than the chuck flap, and with the juices locked in it was extremely moist. You could feel the springy grain ˖˚˳♡
Next up, rib finger~💖 Just watching it cook already makes me happy,, (๑ᵔ⩊ᵔ๑) After the chuck flap I was even more impatient.. let's cook it through and eat it quick.

I tried it topped with wasabi and myeongi namul. Since the rib finger has texture, it paired well with these mild seasonings. My vote goes to wasabi!💚

Eating it with the melted cheese was a really good combo ✨ I thought the cheese would cover up the beef flavor, but it added umami instead. Eek, looking at the photos while writing this post, I really want to eat it again,, ㅠㅠ

Skirt (tosisal): clear grain and a slightly buttery taste
Hwarou's skirt had the most noticeable grain of the three, and with no toughness at all it tasted slightly buttery. Maybe that's because it's a cut near the innards, but it wasn't dull, it was clean and mild, and so delicious.
Last, I put the skirt on too! The mushrooms next to it are nearly done as well. It definitely looks like a proper hanwoo restaurant. Dear meat, you are so beautiful 💕

And it goes so well with myeongi namul!! My friend said this skirt was the best. It's tender but still has texture, so it was fun to eat. ˗ˋˏ❤︎ˎˊ˗
When the mushrooms were done and I cut them along the grain, they acted like they were meat?!~~ Full of juice inside.. the mushrooms were so good too!!

Hwarou meal menu: cold noodles or beef ramen?
For a meal menu at Hwarou Dadaepo, I strongly recommend the cold noodles (naengmyeon). The beef ramen was also packed with beef, but the cold noodles were cool, tangy and sweet, and I liked them better.
A BBQ meal isn't complete without naengmyeon or ramen, right

It's called beef ramen, and sure enough it was loaded with beef. But my recommendation is the cold noodles!! They do naengmyeon well.. if you're getting a meal dish, I highly recommend the cold noodles!! Cool, tangy, sweet and delicious💖

One last chunk of meat saved for the end! ⌯•ᗢ•⌯ Grilled through and eaten, it made for such a perfect meal🔅💕 When I paid after finishing, I even got candy and Febreze, wow~~
Who is Hwarou Dadaepo good for?
At Hwarou Dadaepo you can grill hanwoo while looking at the ocean, so it's good value and a great Natgae BBQ spot for special days. With a range of hanwoo cuts like chuck flap, rib finger and skirt, it feels like a trustworthy place to visit. ✷
- Hanwoo charcoal BBQ specialist
- Ocean view
- Self-bar
- Parking available (1st floor or the lot next door)
Thanks to Hwarou, a beef spot at Natgae in Dadaepo, I had a really delicious and happy dinner. I definitely recommend it when you're taking your parents or want a special dinner with friends~~
