Found a great terrace restaurant in Yeonnam-dong near Hongik University Station! Classicdang, where the lasagna and pizza are both really good.

What's the vibe like outside Classicdang in Yeonnam-dong?

Walking through the Yeonnam-dong alleys you pass so many pretty restaurants, but Classicdang's exterior caught my eye from a distance.

A white-toned building with a red CLASSICDANG sign, plus rattan chairs and parasols out front — it felt like a small restaurant on some foreign street corner from the first glance. With good weather on top of that, it looked even prettier haha.

Classicdang's terrace seating

The front of Classicdang is wide open, and you can eat at the outdoor terrace seats for that open-air dining feel. With the folding doors pushed all the way open, the indoor and outdoor terrace areas nearly become one space.

Sunlight comes in naturally and you can see straight out to the street, so even sitting indoors gives a slight outdoor-dining feeling. Because of this openness, visiting on a nice-weather day would let you enjoy Classicdang's atmosphere even more!

Rather than a bare street-side outdoor setup, the terrace flows naturally from the indoor space, which makes it a more comfortable style of outdoor dining. Sitting here with a pizza and a beer or wine on a cool day sounds amazing. Menu and what we ordered

Classicdang's menu is built mainly around pizza, pasta, and risotto, with plenty of variety. There's Margherita, gorgonzola cheese pizza, lasagna, vongole, squid ink risotto, and more, plus wine and draft beer, so it seemed like a good spot for a date or a casual drink.

We ordered the gorgonzola cheese pizza, the classic lasagna, and a zero-sugar cola!

Once seated, they set us up with cold water and cutlery. The tables are a clean white tone too, so they're great for food photos haha.

Inside Classicdang

The interior overall is done in white and wood tones. Rather than flashy or overly decorated, it felt comfortable and cozy, and little touches like the round lighting and wooden chairs were cute. From the exterior to the interior, the whole place has a warm, casual feel that's easy to walk into.

The zero-sugar cola came out first! It arrived in a glass packed with ice, perfect for a cold, refreshing drink. When you're eating cheesy dishes like pizza or lasagna, carbonation is a must haha.

Next up, the gorgonzola cheese pizza 🍕. Piled with cheese on a thin crust and the edges browned nicely — it looked delicious just from the visuals.

What stands out most is that Classicdang's gorgonzola pizza comes already drizzled generously with honey on top! It's sweet enough that you don't even need to dip it separately.

Salty, savory cheese plus sweet honey is a sweet-and-salty combo that's hard to mess up haha. The crust wasn't thick either, so it was easy to eat without feeling heavy — if you're someone who already likes dipping gorgonzola generously in honey, this will suit your taste perfectly.

Classic lasagna — watch out, the dish comes out piping hot

Then the classic lasagna arrived! Fresh out of the oven with the cheese melted golden brown on top, it looked so tempting. But the dish it's served in is extremely hot, so be careful not to touch it! The staff warned us it was hot too, so we started eating carefully haha.

Cutting it in half, the lasagna sheets were stacked in neat layers with tomato sauce and meat in between. The cheese was generous too, so the moment we cut it, it stretched perfectly 🤤

One bite in, the savory melty cheese, tangy tomato sauce, and rich meat flavor came together harmoniously. There was quite a lot of cheese, but the tomato sauce cut through the richness so it wasn't overwhelming, and with the meat in there too, it felt fairly hearty and filling!

Alternating between the sweet, savory gorgonzola pizza and the rich tomato-and-cheese lasagna, the two dishes paired really well together. If you're visiting with two people, ordering one pizza and one lasagna to share seems like a good move :)

Overall thoughts on Classicdang in Yeonnam-dong

From the exterior that recalls a small overseas restaurant, to the wide-open terrace, to the open kitchen where you can watch the cooking happen — the atmosphere at Classicdang in Yeonnam-dong stuck with me. The biggest draw was being able to sit on the terrace and enjoy that outdoor-dining feel on a nice-weather day. If you're looking for a date spot or a good-atmosphere terrace restaurant in Yeonnam-dong, this one's worth a visit :)
