Donkatsu restaurant in Eungam-dong, Seoul: huge portions packed to go
In short
Bulgwangcheon Wang Donkatsu (불광천왕돈까스) is an old-school, Korean-Western style donkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) restaurant near Saejeol Station in Eungam-dong, Eunpyeong, Seoul. On a weekend, two people ordered the Wang Donkatsu (13,000 won) and the Cheese Bomb Donkatsu (15,000 won), which came with tuna kimchi stew. The portions were so large that more than half the donkatsu was packed at the self-service packing station and reheated in an air fryer the next day. Bulgwangcheon Wang Donkatsu suits diners who care most about portion size and value for money.

Why I went to Bulgwangcheon Wang Donkatsu in Eungam-dong on a weekend
Bulgwangcheon Wang Donkatsu (불광천왕돈까스) is a donkatsu place in Eungam-dong with a reputation for huge portions and great value. I wanted to eat until I was totally stuffed that weekend, so I searched around and went to this Eungam-dong spot that's famous for insane portions and a crazy good price!

The place is known for serving generously, so I went in with high expectations. I'll give you my honest thoughts right away!

By the way, the hall was totally full of customers, so I couldn't take any photos of the interior! The restaurant is just the right size, not too small and not overwhelmingly big, but it was so busy there wasn't a single empty table..
How big are the portions at Bulgwangcheon Wang Donkatsu? Does tuna kimchi stew come with it?
The donkatsu here felt more than double the size of other donkatsu places, and every donkatsu order comes with tuna kimchi stew. We tried the signature Wang Donkatsu (₩13,000) and the Cheese Bomb Donkatsu (₩15,000)!

When the tray came out I was seriously shocked;;

No lie, the portion seemed more than double that of ordinary donkatsu places;;; It's enough to fill even a grown man 💦 And the funny thing is, if you order donkatsu, tuna kimchi stew comes along with it too.

Just when the fried food starts to feel heavy, one sip of the tuna kimchi stew broth wipes the greasiness away and you can keep eating forever, crazy!! As expected of a famous Eungam-dong spot 👍
What does the Cheese Bomb Donkatsu (₩15,000) taste like?
The Cheese Bomb Donkatsu at Bulgwangcheon Wang Donkatsu is ₩15,000 and is packed with mozzarella inside the breading. I tried it first, and it totally lives up to its name!

Inside the breading there's a ridiculous amount of rich, soft mozzarella, like you got hit by a bomb. The meat itself is thick and plump, and the outside is super crispy, so the chew is just amazing.

If you like cheese, you'll love this for sure, no divided opinions here, so I fully vouch for it as a signature Eungam-dong dish haha
What is the Wang Donkatsu (₩13,000) like?
The Wang Donkatsu at Bulgwangcheon Wang Donkatsu is a ₩13,000 basic retro-style cutlet (gyeongyangsik, Western-style Korean diner food), and the size is seriously enormous! And there are two whole pieces...

A runny fried egg sits on top of the Wang Donkatsu, and when I broke the yolk and dipped the cutlet in it with the sauce, it was much softer and nuttier.
(Boss, are you even making money..) The breading is crispy but the meat inside is juicy and plump, so I never got tired of it, yum yum nom nom, so good 😜

With this quality and this amount for ₩13,000, it's honestly beyond good value, practically free donkatsu, so no wonder people call it an Eungam-dong gem;;;

Can you take leftover donkatsu home? Self-service packing and air-fryer reheating
Bulgwangcheon Wang Donkatsu has a self-service packing station where you can pack leftovers yourself, with containers and rubber bands ready. The two of us ate like we were determined to burst, but the portions were so big that more than half was still left T_T Leaving it behind felt like such a waste 🥲
But there's a separate self-service packing station, so you don't have to worry about what the staff think and can pack leftovers yourself, which was so convenient! Containers and rubber bands were all neatly prepared, so I packed up the leftover donkatsu nicely.
At home I gave it a quick run in the air fryer and it got crispy again like in the restaurant, so I enjoyed it really well the next day too haha

Bulgwangcheon Wang Donkatsu: overall verdict
Bulgwangcheon Wang Donkatsu is an Eungam-dong donkatsu place where the batter is crispy and the meat is plump, so I enjoyed it to the very end. Honestly, there are plenty of places with small portions or bad taste, but here I ate happily all the way through haha
- An overwhelming portion, more than double other donkatsu places, plus tuna kimchi stew
- Cheese Bomb with cheese pouring out and a crispy retro-style Wang Donkatsu
- A self-service packing station where you can take leftovers home without feeling awkward

If you want to eat a hearty, tasty donkatsu until you're full, give Bulgwangcheon Wang Donkatsu in Eungam-dong a try. No regrets, for real
