I was looking for a different kind of indoor hangout for me and my friends lately, so we went to Hero Board Game Cafe Nowon Branch, a board game café near Nowon Station!
It was a space that works for dates, get-togethers with friends and even big groups. Today I'll honestly walk you through the facilities, how it works and what's worth ordering at Hero Board Game Cafe Nowon Branch, based on my own visit!
Hero Board Game Cafe Nowon Branch: location and opening hours
- 📍 15 Sanggye-ro 3-gil, 3rd floor, Nowon-gu, Seoul, South Korea
- ⏰ Mon–Thu, Sun 13:00–24:00 / Fri 13:00–01:00 (next day) / Sat 12:00–01:00 (next day)
- 🗺️ 2-minute walk from Nowon Station Exit 9

Oops, the photo came out blurry... ㅠㅠ Anyway, from Exit 9, head straight down the alley next to O'Lens, and it's on the 3rd floor of the Dookki building!

As the signs on the way up say, there are not only board games but also arcade games, Nintendo, PlayStation and other game consoles, so I highly recommend it if you're looking for a board game café with an arcade feel in Nowon!
They sell cocktails and beer too, so the grown-up kids can have a drink while they play, haha.

How much does it cost? Weekday unlimited play for ₩5,000
Prices at Hero Board Game Cafe Nowon Branch: the weekday unlimited plan is a whopping ₩5,000! Weekday teens pay ₩2,000 for 1 hour! Weekday/weekend 1 hour is ₩3,000! Super cheap, right? I think it's the best value among board game café franchises.
You can tell they put care into the exterior design too, and I really liked that!

Board game selection and game recommendations
So many board games the moment you walk in... wow, I was overwhelmed, haha! There were lots of games I hadn't seen at other board game cafés!
For couples who've already conquered most board games and are looking for a great indoor date in Nowon, I think this selection is a real reason to come to Hero Board Game Cafe Nowon Branch :)

What I especially liked is that each game comes with a guide-and-recommendation card. From the box alone, it's hard to tell how many players it suits, how it's played, how long it takes or how difficult it is.
Searching for each one is a chore, but Hero Board Game Cafe lays it all out at a glance, which was really convenient! Just by reading those cards, you can tell which game to play.

Private rooms and large group tables
The inside of Hero Board Game Cafe Nowon Branch is really spacious, with lots of rooms! They have curtains too, so the privacy level is maxed out!
Each room is fairly wide, so I think it could fit 5–6 people. I went with two friends, three of us in total, and it was roomy and comfortable. There's also an extra-large group table for 7–16 people, so a big headcount shouldn't be a problem.

There was a separate floor-seating room as well. And as you can see, there were several arcade machines, plus a separate area where you can play PlayStation.

The lie detector in the self-service zone
There was a self-service zone too, with all sorts of things to play with: puzzles, a lie detector, Nintendo and more. You all know a lie detector alone generates endless content, right? Haha.

Chex choco bingsu: shaved chocolate milk ice is the star
We ordered at the in-store kiosk, which lets you order food and drinks and search for games. Did you know Hero Board Game Cafe is a great spot for bingsu (Korean shaved ice dessert)?
On a hot day like these, sharing a bingsu while playing games sounds so fun, right? So we ordered the Chex choco bingsu. (I forgot the exact menu name, but I totally recommend it. So delicious.)

Look at the gorgeous look of the bingsu fresh out of the kitchen! A condensed milk is provided with each bingsu, so don't make the mistake I did of ordering extra condensed milk... :)

The ice cream in the middle was really good too, and with the Chex choco and the chocolate syrup... a blood-sugar-spiking best flavor.

The ice isn't even regular milk ice but chocolate milk ice, which was so touching. Seriously, the bingsu here was tastier than other bingsu franchises.

We were supposed to be playing games, but the bingsu was so good that I just kept scooping it up... haha. I'm going back for the bingsu.
3 friends, 2 hours: our verdict on Hero Board Game Cafe
For 2 hours we played board games, tried the lie detector and ate bingsu, and had a great time.
You girls know, right? When you have too much fun, there are no photos left... I lost my blogger self and played like crazy (...), so there are no photos after this point... That's how fun it was, and the laughter never stopped!! The staff were also so, so kind ㅠㅠ
If you're looking for a different kind of indoor thing to do in Nowon, I highly recommend Hero Board Game Cafe Nowon Branch! It's not affected by the weather, so satisfaction was high as a date course or a place to meet friends. It's easy to reach from Nowon Station and comfortable to drop into, so if you like board games, I recommend stopping by 😊
