Where's good for sushi in Songdo? After a lot of searching I ended up at Sushi Doku The Songdo near Technopark Station. The sushi is made fresh right in front of you, thick-cut and generous, and it's convenient whether you come by subway or by car since parking is free.

There were plenty of well-composed set menus, perfect for a date or solo dining. If you're looking for a good Songdo restaurant or Incheon restaurant, the food quality here was good enough that I'd say go without a second thought. After visiting, I understood exactly why Sushi Doku The Songdo has such a reputation as an Incheon Songdo restaurant. Let me walk you through my review.

Sushi Doku The Songdo at Technopark Station: how long is the wait?

Sushi Doku The Songdo, near Songdo's Technopark Station, is clearly popular — there was a bit of a wait.

Luckily there was warm plum tea waiting at the entrance, and drinking it right away warmed me right up.

The dining room was spacious and comfortable.

Since it's a live kitchen, you can watch the chefs slicing and shaping the sushi right in front of you, which made it look even fresher.

There were proper solo seats, great for eating alone, along with group tables for families and a nice atmosphere for dates — all the seating types were well covered.

The menu: sushi set meals, sashimi sets and a children's set

Sushi Doku The Songdo has such a wide menu that it was genuinely fun to choose.

Menu board listing sushi sets and sashimi sets

With so many sushi set options, it was easy to pick something to my taste. There were quite a few types of mixed sashimi sets too. There were also several sets built around a single kind of sushi, and best of all, there's a separate kids' set — so this would be a fine place to bring children too.

What we ordered at Sushi Doku The Songdo

  • Premium sushi set (10pc) — ₩25,900 × 2
  • Sushi lineup — flounder, red seabream, salmon, squid, northern shrimp, akami, red shrimp, red snow crab, eel, ankimo
  • Also included — refillable udon, shrimp tempura, salad, truffle chawanmushi

The 10-piece premium sushi set: thick, fresh cuts

The premium sushi set I ordered came with 10 pieces of sushi, and the whole plate looked incredibly fresh from the start.

Maybe because it was sliced live right in front of us, each piece was glossy and thick-cut.

Ankimo gunkan sushi

The flounder was chewy and springy. The red seabream was fresh and got nuttier the more you chewed it. The salmon was so soft it melted in the mouth. The squid had that signature chewy, sticky texture. The northern shrimp had a strong, sweet flavor. The bright red akami was clean and light. The red shrimp was springy and sweet too. The red snow crab had a nice fibrous texture and nuttiness. The eel was well-seasoned and soft, pairing beautifully with the rice. And finally, the ankimo (monkfish liver) gunkan was rich and savory, a great way to finish off cleanly.

Free udon refills, shrimp tempura and truffle chawanmushi

Alongside the sushi, the set came with refillable udon, shrimp tempura, salad and truffle chawanmushi. The full set was quite substantial.

The salad was crisp with a light, refreshing dressing, good to start with. The truffle chawanmushi had a subtle truffle scent the moment I lifted the lid — really luxurious. The texture was wonderfully soft. The tempura came as shrimp tempura and karaage, crispy outside and moist inside. But best of all was that the udon was refillable — hot broth with a clean flavor. I refilled it once, and the staff kindly brought a fresh bowl right away, which I really appreciated.

Why Sushi Doku The Songdo works for solo diners, dates and kids

It was such a treat to have such fresh, thick-cut sushi in such a varied spread here in Songdo.

Being made live meant the freshness was obvious, and the overall flavors were clean across the board. With refillable udon too, we ate our fill. The space is comfortable, there are solo seats for eating alone, it works well as a date spot, and with a kids' set available it's fine to bring children along as well. If you're near Technopark Station in Songdo looking for a solid Incheon Songdo restaurant, Sushi Doku The Songdo is worth a visit.
