Otter Rabbit House is a fairytale-style brunch and bakery café in a residential area near Wolgwang Waterside Park in Sangin-dong, Dalseo, Daegu. On a weekday at noon, the writer and a younger sibling took a window seat at Otter Rabbit House for bolognese ragu pasta, egg basil French toast, a passion fruit vin chaud ade, fresh-squeezed orange juice and a castella croissant, then bought bread to go for the writer's nieces and nephews. Apart from the orange juice coming without ice, both the space and the food at Otter Rabbit House were satisfying.

Gyeongju Bomun Korean restaurant, kids' beef bibimbap: Hyoeunok

Hyoeunok Gyeongju Branch is a Korean restaurant near Bomun Tourist Complex in Gyeongju, known for Ppyeoberest, a mountain of beef ribs piled high. Remembering how well the kids ate last time, the family went back and ordered Ppyeoberest plus a kids' hanwoo soboru bibimbap (Korean beef crumble rice bowl), and left full on tender meat, warm broth and a rice dish suited to children's tastes. For a family meal with kids in Gyeongju Bomun, Hyoeunok's Ppyeoberest with a side of soboru bibimbap is an easy recommendation.

Jeju Healing Dwaeji is a pre-seared black pork BBQ restaurant on Maljil-ro in Seogwipo, Jeju. On a family trip with kids, we reserved ahead for a window seat, ordered one geun of black pork plus an extra half geun, tried the staff's tip of pairing the pork with olives and jalapeños, and finished with a doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) that tasted like homemade soybean paste. Because the pork arrives pre-seared, grilling time is short, which made Jeju Healing Dwaeji an easy dinner spot with young children.

Jeju BBQ with kids: 4 servings of black pork jowl, Dolgyeok Hanwoo

Dolgyeok Hanwoo is a beef and black pork grill restaurant in Yeondong, Jeju City, a short drive from Jeju Airport. On the last day of a family trip, the group planned to order 5 servings of cubed black pork jowl but took the staff's advice and ordered 4, adding beef brisket, yukhoe bibimbap (raw beef rice bowl) and doenjang stew. Between the spotless dining room, generous portions and the Jeju carrot juice handed out at the end, Dolgyeok Hanwoo worked well for a family meal with children.
