Incheon izakaya near Bupyeong Station: sukiyaki set with udon, Yurak
In short
Yurak is a low-temperature aged sashimi izakaya on the 2nd floor near Bupyeong Station in Incheon. Over dinner with a friend, the order was Yurak's aged sashimi + sukiyaki set, and the day's sashimi lineup was flounder (from Jeju and Wando), red seabream, salmon, croaker and abalone, with udon noodles added to finish the sukiyaki. Alternating cold sashimi with the hot pot bubbling on the table made the set work both as drinking food and as a full meal.

Yurak, a Bupyeong Station favorite specializing in low-temperature aged sashimi

I was looking for somewhere in Bupyeong to have dinner with a drink, and ended up at Yurak. This time I ordered the aged sashimi + sukiyaki set, which lets you eat aged sashimi and a warm hot pot together.

There are so many different bars near Bupyeong Station that you're spoiled for choice, but after eating here, I think the advantage of this Bupyeong Station izakaya is that you can enjoy aged sashimi and sukiyaki together.

What is on the menu at Yurak?
This Bupyeong Station favorite sells a wide range of dishes — chilled seafood mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), sushi, and the aged sashimi and sukiyaki I ordered. It means sashimi lovers and hot pot lovers can go together without arguing over the menu, and it's also good for a day when you want to share a bit of everything.

Today's aged sashimi lineup was flounder (Jeju Wando), red seabream, salmon, croaker, and abalone! They also serve Jeju mackerel sashimi, which I'm already looking forward to trying.

It was a nice spot for a dinner with a friend, but also had a comfortable atmosphere for a casual drink and conversation.
Aged sashimi and sukiyaki, all in one!
What comes in Yurak's aged sashimi + sukiyaki set?
Yurak's aged sashimi + sukiyaki set comes with several kinds of aged sashimi plus a sukiyaki hot pot cooked right at the table. Alternating between cold sashimi and hot pot made a great combination.

I started with the aged sashimi, and it was great being able to taste several kinds of fish at once. Aged sashimi has a different appeal from regular fresh sashimi, right? The texture was chewy with a deep savory flavor, so it was nice to eat slowly, and it paired well as a drinking snack.
After working through the sashimi piece by piece, cooking up the sukiyaki alongside it turned out to be a pretty great combination — being able to switch between cold and hot dishes. Especially at an izakaya, eating nothing but sashimi can sometimes feel a bit lacking, but having sukiyaki alongside made it a much more filling meal.

Finishing the sukiyaki with udon noodles
There's something fun about cooking the sukiyaki hot right at the table. With meat and vegetables together, it was delicious eaten with the broth, and switching back and forth with the aged sashimi definitely kept it from feeling repetitive!
The set also came with udon noodles, so at the end I could add them into the pot too. I always like to add noodles after finishing a hot pot, so having udon included meant I ate well right to the last bite haha. At first I thought the aged sashimi was the main event, but after the sukiyaki and udon too, I ended up surprisingly full. The fish stew served as a side was also delicious.
Is Yurak worth it as a Bupyeong Station izakaya?
What I liked most about the aged sashimi + sukiyaki set at Yurak was being able to enjoy two menus at once. From the chewy aged sashimi to the hot sukiyaki and finally the udon noodles, the whole spread felt quite substantial.
Eating cold sashimi alongside hot hot pot let me enjoy more variety than ordering just one dish, and I felt it was a versatile combination that works both as a drinking snack and as a proper meal. When looking for an izakaya in Bupyeong, I tend to prefer places with a varied menu, and in that sense Yurak worked well.
If you're looking for a Bupyeong Station izakaya and want both sashimi and hot pot, the aged sashimi + sukiyaki set is worth ordering. It felt like the kind of place I'd think of again on a night out catching up with a friend over good food, or whenever I have a dinner plan in Bupyeong.
