Why I came back to Bored & Hungry Seongsu for a weekday brunch

Bored & Hungry Seongsu is a handmade burger place 668 m from Exit 3 of Seongsu Station, and this time I revisited on a weekday brunch. A twin mom's day out ♥ I came back to the Seongsu burger spot Bored & Hungry for a nice lunch with my sister.

Seen in daylight, the mural and the interior felt even flashier than I remembered, from the outside right through to the inside.

My sister has commuted to Seongsu for years and had no idea this place existed. Finding a great restaurant that late, haha.

Bored & Hungry Seongsu hours, break time and parking

Bored & Hungry Seongsu is at 32 Seongsui-ro 18-gil, 1st floor, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, and it is open daily from 11:00 to 20:50. On weekdays there is a break time from 15:50 to 17:00, and last orders are at 15:10 and 20:10 on weekdays and 20:10 on weekends. Parking is available, but it is paid.

Is Bored & Hungry Seongsu still roomy when it's full?

It had been a few months since my last visit, and Bored & Hungry Seongsu was still spacious and comfortable.

Even when every seat is taken, the space is big and the tables are spaced well apart, which I love.

Bored & Hungry Seongsu feels like you've landed in America.

Table QR ordering and Wi-Fi

Every table at Bored & Hungry Seongsu has both Wi-Fi and an ordering QR code, which is super convenient!! I scanned the QR to order and it turned out to be the Wi-Fi connection, haha.

What we ordered at Bored & Hungry Seongsu

This time I picked mostly things I hadn't tried at Bored & Hungry Seongsu. I'd had a shake last time, so I skipped it. Let's try new stuff!

The best-selling corn ribs ♥♥ I was curious, so my sister and I decided to try them! Just from the photo, they look delicious.

I'm kind of addicted to spicy food these days, so for a burger I went with the same Chipotle Spicy burger as last time!

My sister couldn't decide on the other one either, so we went with the best seller! Haha. We had to try the whole-shrimp patty, the signature of Bored & Hungry burgers..!!

At Bored & Hungry Seongsu, cutlery, drinks, tissues and gloves are all self-serve! I wondered why gloves were needed, and it turns out they're a must when you order the corn ribs ^^

I like handmade burgers, and this is one of my top burger spots. I need to bring my burger-loving partner here soon too ♥

Both burgers come with thick patties and loads of veggies. The sauce on the chili cheese fries is no joke either..

My sister and I cut the burgers in half so we could try both. They were so thick that they collapsed as I cut them, but I put the brioche bun back on nicely, haha.

How spicy is the Chipotle Spicy burger?

The Chipotle Spicy burger (₩11,900) at Bored & Hungry Seongsu is only a little spicy, so even people who can't handle heat can eat it. It comes with a brioche bun, grilled onion, tomato, red onion, American cheese, chipotle seasoning, a 130 g smashed patty, frilly ice lettuce and chipotle sauce.

The Chipotle Spicy burger was just as good the second time T_T It's only a little spicy, so even a spice wimp like me can enjoy it (?). My sister didn't find it spicy at all, said it was great, and we devoured it together, haha.

Why does every table order the corn ribs?

The corn ribs (₩7,400) are the top side dish at Bored & Hungry, eaten by tearing into them like ribs. Well-grilled corn comes generously dusted with seasoning.

Gnawing on corn ribs at a handmade burger place, like grabbing galbi (Korean ribs) or jokbal (braised pig's trotters) with your hands, haha. Well-grilled corn with loads of seasoning, can't go wrong ♥ I looked around and every table had ordered this side, haha. The texture is great and the seasoning is addictive, so we ate it all happily.

Is the Shrimp O.G burger okay if you dislike shrimp patties?

The Shrimp O.G burger (₩12,400 as a combo) at Bored & Hungry Seongsu won over even the writer, who usually dislikes shrimp patties: not greasy at all, in fact fresh. It comes with a brioche bun, sriracha sauce, frilly ice lettuce, a shrimp patty, red onion and myeongran mayo (pollock roe mayo) sauce.

I don't normally like shrimp patties much, but at Bored & Hungry Seongsu I seem to love them, haha. A thick shrimp patty is oily and, to me, too rich, so I dislike it. But at this Seongsu burger favorite, eaten with sriracha sauce, myeongran mayo sauce and plenty of veggies, I couldn't tell it was rich at all. It was actually fresh. For the first time, a plump, bouncy shrimp patty tasted good to me.

I enjoyed the Mutant Hot Shrimp Burger last time too, so I guess I like shrimp patties only here, haha.

Bored & Hungry Seongsu revisit: the verdict in one line

Everything I've tried here has been good, and even with no appetite I end up stretching my stomach and leaving stuffed: that's Bored & Hungry, my Seongsu burger favorite. I think I could come often and never get tired of it ^^
