Songdo Jonghap Eosijang (송도종합어시장) in Songdo

I went to Songdo Jonghap Eosijang for their absolutely crazy value lunch set — available weekdays and weekends from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for just 12,000 won per person. This 12,000 won lunch set comes with live-fish sashimi, sushi, sea squirt, fried shrimp, steamed egg, spicy fish stew and more — the kind of value that turns a place into your go-to spot from lunch to daytime drinks.
Songdo tends to have pricier dining, so I didn't expect much, but the 12,000 won lunch special was so generous, and the other sashimi and seafood dishes on the menu are also reasonably priced, making it a solid spot for a family meal out. Turns out this is a Songdo spot specializing in live-fish sashimi, sourced fresh every dawn from Yeonan Pier and prepared right on the spot. Here's my detailed review of that 12,000 won lunch set. Let's go!!
Songdo Jonghap Eosijang's location, hours, and parking

- 🐟Business hours: Daily 10:30 a.m.–12:40 a.m.
- 🐟Open year-round
- 🐟Takeout and delivery available, parking available
This great-value sashimi restaurant, Songdo Jonghap Eosijang, is located in the food alley near the Songdo Coast Guard station. It sits on the first floor of Chaoreum Plaza, facing the main road, with several huge live-fish tanks out front — arguably the best-value sashimi restaurant in Songdo. I visited early for lunch, and by the peak lunch hour, local residents were coming in with coworkers and family for a meal out. 👍🏻
There's a basement parking lot in the building. Plenty of spots, and you get 2 hours free — make sure to register your car.
Interior and seating

A clean, comfortable sashimi restaurant under bright lighting. Tables can be pushed together, great for Songdo group gatherings. Solo dining is possible at the standard 4-person tables, but the value lunch set requires a minimum of 2 people.
Menu lineup at Songdo Jonghap Eosijang

Songdo Jonghap Eosijang specializes in live-fish sashimi, with a wide variety of fish — halibut, rockfish, mullet, flounder, red seabream, sea bass, and more. They also serve mixed sashimi platters, sekkoshi (thinly sliced small fish with bones), various raw seafood, and mulhoe (cold raw fish soup).

There are also seasonal menus and meal options like sushi, spicy fish stew, sashimi rice bowl, and fish roe rice. Today I came for the value lunch set!! This 12,000 won lunch set at Songdo Jonghap Eosijang puts even sushi shop lunch specials to shame — I took detailed photos of exactly what comes with it.

After ordering, I read the sign on the table, which explained in detail how Songdo Jonghap Eosijang manages to serve fresh live-fish sashimi at such a low price.
Dining in already offers great value, but takeout orders get a 3,000 won discount, so a lot of Songdo locals use that option. 👍🏻
Basic side dishes and self-serve bar

The basic side dishes they laid out: wasabi, makjang (spicy fermented soybean paste), sliced garlic, sliced peppers. The sliced peppers are cucumber peppers — crunchy and not spicy.

Retro-style seasoned fried chicken and aged kimchi (mukeunji). That aged kimchi is delicious wrapped around sashimi, but the real move is putting it on top of sushi to make aged kimchi sashimi sushi 🥹

Wrapping greens — perilla leaves and lettuce — plus a deeply simmered seaweed soup. The seaweed soup doesn't look like it has many ingredients, but it has that rich sashimi-restaurant flavor you just can't replicate cooking it at home. Babies would happily finish a whole bowl of rice mixed into this seaweed soup.

Seasoned vegetables, meant to be mixed with sashimi to make a spicy raw fish salad, also come as a basic side dish. The vegetables come with a bit less chojang (vinegared chili sauce) than usual, so add more to taste.

All the side dishes, seaweed soup, and seasoned vegetables they serve are refillable at the self-serve bar. There's also napa cabbage kimchi, the perfect partner for seafood ramyeon. Just grab any extra side dishes you need.
What's in the ₩12,000 lunch set for one
A little while later, they set the whole spread down at once — whoa, so much food, so generous 🥹!! The Songdo Jonghap Eosijang lunch set is 12,000 won with rice sold separately, so I figured I'd order rice later when the fish stew came out, but honestly the spread is already plentiful without it. Let's go through it piece by piece!!
Sea squirt

A taste-sized portion of sea squirt per person. Chewy, bouncy, with the ocean scent front and center — I barely resisted craving a shot of soju 😇
Two pieces of sushi and an aged kimchi sushi tip

The sushi comes as sashimi sushi and shrimp sushi, 2 pieces each per person. Here's a tip: there's plenty of sashimi to go around, so split the sushi rice, top it with sashimi and aged kimchi, and upgrade it into aged kimchi sashimi sushi..💞
Insanely, absurdly delicious
Fried shrimp

Freshly fried, crispy fried shrimp — the same plump fried shrimp you get on top of shrimp udon. Eat it right away while it's hot and fresh out of the fryer for the best taste!! Wasabi plus soy sauce is the best combo.
Steamed egg

The steamed egg (gyeranjjim) has that savory, slightly toasty flavor of classic Korean steamed egg. It's not seasoned to be a side dish for rice, so it's delicious eaten on its own, spoonful by spoonful. Moist and soft, with a dense egg custard.
How much sashimi do you get, and how does it taste?

Today's star: the live-fish sashimi. My table got halibut, but I noticed other tables getting mullet/rockfish plus salmon — the mix seems to vary a bit each time. It looks like they rotate combinations among halibut, rockfish, mullet, salmon, and flounder.

The portion is substantial enough for a 2-person lunch set. I ordered it as a solo drinking meal at the sashimi restaurant, but honestly this looks like it could easily feed two — about 1.2 to 1.5 servings worth of sashimi. It's great wrapped with makjang, perilla leaves, and lettuce, and also amazing eaten with aged kimchi and sushi rice.
The halibut sashimi has that lively, springy, chewy texture 🥹. Pairing the 12,000 won lunch set with a drink? Absolutely doable. And since you can order it even during weekend lunch hours, the value here is off the charts. 👍🏻
The finishing spicy fish stew

It's not over yet!! After the whole meal, a finishing spicy fish stew comes out too. Ask the staff for the stew and they'll bring it out and cook it fresh right away. If you need some carbs after all that sashimi, order rice now, or add noodles or dumpling soup as an extra into the stew — either way, delicious. The stew is loaded with bean sprouts and minari (water dropwort), simmered bubbling away on the table burner.
This bone-based spicy fish stew (seodeori-tang) has a rich, savory fish broth — it seems like they pulled the stock separately before adding it in.
Before the seasoning mixes in, I imagine the broth would look a deep milky white 😇. A hot bowl of finishing spicy fish stew to properly cap off the meal — this Songdo sashimi restaurant, this Songdo lunch-set favorite, Songdo Jonghap Eosijang, comes highly recommended!!

All cleaned out. Ate well, full and satisfied 😋
I highly recommend this incredibly good-value Songdo sashimi restaurant, Songdo Jonghap Eosijang, at 12,000 won per person. A great-value lunch set by day, reasonably priced live-fish sashimi by night. Plus, you get a 3,000 won discount on takeout orders, so if you're looking for an affordable sashimi restaurant in Songdo, come check out Songdo Jonghap Eosijang!
