Yuseong seafood braise restaurant: Seommaeul's generous small size
In short
Seommaeul Agujjim & Nakjibokkeum is a seafood braise restaurant in Yuseong, Daejeon. I ordered the ₩40,000 small haemul-jjim, whose generous portion, manageable regular spice level, and tender seafood suited me well, though I could not finish it.

I had the small haemul-jjim (spicy braised seafood) at Seommaeul Agujjim & Nakjibokkeum (섬마을 아구찜&낙지볶음) in Yuseong, Daejeon. Even though it was the smallest size, the portion was generous, and the regular spice level and seafood texture suited my taste.
Is parking convenient when visiting by car?
There was space for six or more cars in front of the restaurant, and Seommaeul also had a separate dedicated parking lot about 30 m away. I found it convenient to visit by car. The address is 1163 Yuseong-daero, 1st floor, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, and it is listed as about a 10-minute drive from Bukdaejeon IC.
What is it like for family or group dining?
The restaurant was spacious, with plenty of seating. When I visited, there were groups and couples on dates.
The space felt cozy, and the owner served us kindly, so I had a comfortable meal. High chairs were available, which made me think it would also work well for families dining with children.
What does the seafood braise cost, and what side dishes come with it?
I ordered the small haemul-jjim for ₩40,000. They also had agu-jjim (braised monkfish), jeonbok-muneo-jjim (steamed abalone and octopus), nakji-bokkeum (stir-fried octopus), galbitang (beef short-rib soup), and ppeo-haejangguk (pork-bone hangover soup).
The side dishes were cabbage salad, stir-fried shredded potatoes, stir-fried fish cake, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), roasted seaweed flakes, and dongchimi broth.
Steamed egg also came with the meal. Its soft texture and warmth reminded me of home cooking.
How generous was the small size, and how spicy was the regular level?
I ordered the smallest, small size, but when I first saw it, it felt as generous as a larger size.
Instead of the mild level, I ordered the regular level. The seasoning was spicy, but even those of us who do not handle spicy food well enjoyed it.
There was a generous layer of bean sprouts over the seafood. The sprouts were crisp, and the seafood was well cooked without being chewy.
It included abalone, shrimp, crab, fish roe, and goni (soft fish milt), so I could choose among several kinds of seafood. The roe and goni were soft to chew. Picking the meat from the blue crab was a little inconvenient, but it tasted good.
I also ate an octopus leg. I could enjoy several kinds of seafood on one plate, and it tasted fresh as I ate it.
I wanted to mix rice into the sauce, but I was too full to do so. I could not finish all the haemul-jjim either, but I was satisfied with both the portion and the taste.
What do the signs say about sikhye, takeout, and hours?
Near the entrance, there was sikhye (sweet rice drink) to have after the meal as a palate cleanser. I started drinking it even before my meal.
A sign indicated that takeout was available. The hours listed in the original post are 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM, with a break time from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Delivery, reservations, and group dining are available, and Wi-Fi is provided.
