A story about Byway Bakers, a Byeollae financier spot whose wakppu salt bread is also delicious.
Dessert prices have gotten pretty steep these days, so going out for sweets with my little one started feeling like a splurge, haha. Then while searching for a popular wakppu salt bread place on social media, I found it — Byway Bakers, a Byeollae financier spot! It's a proper dessert bakery, but the prices are so reasonable that I could enjoy good bread without any guilt. I really loved that about it.
Byway Bakers Byeollae Branch: location and atmosphere
Byway Bakers Byeollae Branch is located at 27-10 Deoksong 2-ro 10beon-gil, 1st floor, Unit 104, Namyangju, Gyeonggi, South Korea. It's only 100m from Exit 4 of Byeollae Byeolgaram Station, so it's very easy to get to.

Byway Bakers is a bakery brand that bakes its desserts in-house using premium ingredients, all at reasonable prices.

There were various dessert posters on the outside of the store, which got me excited. Apparently a Hong Kong pineapple bun (Hong Kong-style dessert bun) just came out as a new menu item — I'll have to try that next time, haha.

Wakppu salt bread flavors and the time it sells out
At Byway Bakers Byeollae Branch, you can also get the wakppu salt bread that's trending on social media right now! That day the display case had mango yogurt, fresh blueberry, and Chodang sweet corn wakppu salt bread, and apparently it can sell out if you go in the afternoon.
Inside the store, a video of the wakppu salt bread kept playing — a NEW peach yogurt wakppu salt bread just launched! Even the packaging design is cute, so I get why it's so popular.

Here, here — a row of pretty wakppu salt bread. I wanted to try every single one, but... they're not exactly cheap, so I decided to take just one home.

There was also a mango fresh cream cake. It was piled high with fresh mango and looked really tempting.

4-piece salt bread package for ₩9,900, and gift-wrapped financiers
Byway Bakers is also known as a Byeollae salt bread spot, so there were plenty of salt bread varieties too — castella salt bread, Dubai chocolate salt bread, plain salt bread, mocha salt bread, ham cheese salt bread, egg salt bread. You could buy a 4-piece salt bread package for ₩9,900! Definitely a bakery that lives up to being reasonably priced.

Byway Bakers is a Byeollae financier spot too, not just for salt bread. There were lots of financier flavors, each individually wrapped nicely, which would make great gifts. There's also a gift-wrap package, so next time I need a gift, I'll buy it this way.

Besides that, there were egg tarts and butter rice cakes too — it was great to see a wide variety of trendy, universally loved desserts all prepared and ready.

There were even sample pieces of bread set out in front of the counter!

And look how cute the takeout bag is, right? Haha. Since it's a takeout-only place, I packed everything up and headed home.

How much do the drinks cost?
The drink prices at Byway Bakers were really reasonable too. Caffe latte is ₩3,500, and the ades are around ₩3,500 as well, so you can enjoy them alongside dessert without any guilt.
Tasting the mango yogurt wakppu salt bread at home
Once I arranged all the desserts I'd brought home on a plate, it didn't feel any less fancy than a real dessert café, haha.

The financiers come in opened packaging, so they're neat and easy to store. And here's the trendy wakppu salt bread — I bought the mango yogurt version.

There's a generous layer of white chocolate on top of the salt bread — and when the white chocolate on top cracks, it makes a crisp snapping sound, which must be part of why people enjoy this dessert. The sound was genuinely loud and crisp, haha. My little one found it really fun.

Inside, it's packed with fresh mango and yogurt cream — refreshing and sweet, haha. I totally get why it's so popular!
Gold cheese and Oreo financiers, egg tart, and salt bread
For the financiers, I bought the gold cheese and Oreo flavors — and true to being a financier spot, both were delicious. The combination with the toppings on top felt really well matched.

And of course, can't forget the salt bread and egg tart —

The egg tart is ₩3,800 — it's big, packed with filling, savory and soft. This place is an egg tart spot too!

A true Byeollae salt bread spot — the bread is soft and full of buttery aroma, and the bottom especially is nice and crispy, so you get both soft and crunchy textures, which makes it even tastier!
Byway Bakers, a Byeollae financier spot where the wakppu salt bread is also delicious — they say their principle is to serve bread and desserts baked fresh in-store in the freshest possible state.
A 'national snack' you never get tired of, even eating it every day.
As a bakery brand aiming to be that kind of national snack, offered at reasonable prices, it's great to be able to enjoy a variety of desserts without any guilt.
