Cheonan gejang restaurant with sunlit seats, C set for two: Kkotgeok
In short
Kkotgeok Cheonan Yuryang-dong Branch is a hanok-style gejang (marinated raw crab) restaurant in Yuryang-dong, Dongnam-gu, Cheonan, serving soy sauce crab and spicy crab made with blue crab from Yeonpyeongdo Island. The writer ate the C set for two (80,000 won), which includes crab stew, at a sunlit table and was happy with the not-too-salty female soy sauce crab, the mild spicy crab and the butter crab rice wrapped in seaweed. With a dog-friendly annex kept separate from the main hall, Kkotgeok Cheonan Yuryang-dong Branch is a good pick for a family meal out.

Kkotgeok Cheonan Yuryang-dong Branch (꽃게옥 천안유량동점) is a Yuryang-dong restaurant in Cheonan built around soy sauce crab and spicy crab made with Yeonpyeongdo blue crab, plus other fresh crab dishes. The exterior and interior both look great, so I'd recommend it for family meals, gatherings and special days.
Kkotgeok Cheonan Yuryang-dong Branch hours and parking
The restaurant is at 204 Yuryang-ro, Dongnam-gu, Cheonan, Chungnam (Building A, 1st floor), and it's open 11:00–21:00 with last order at 20:00. There's plenty of parking space in front, so parking is easy.
It has a hanok (traditional Korean house) feel right from the outside, and the whole place looks upscale and pretty.
Dog-friendly annex, main hall and the hanok-style interior

Inside, by the counter, I saw pomegranate tea, plum tea and coffee set out for dessert.

The restaurant runs a main hall and an annex. The main hall is the dining space for regular guests and the annex is for guests with dogs, so every kind of customer can eat comfortably.
I sat at a table with lots of sunlight, and eating in the warm sun was so healing :)
Kkotgeok menu and prices: 35,000 won albaegi set and set options

The albaegi set (알배기정식) comes with soy crab, spicy crab, rice, soup and side dishes for ₩35,000 per person, which felt like a fair price. There are also set menus, which add one of dried barley-corvina, boiled pork slices or crab stew to the albaegi set, so I'd recommend a set if you want to try a bit of everything.
What comes with the 80,000 won C set for two?
I ordered the Kkotgeok C set for two at ₩80,000. The gejang came out the moment I ordered.. ♥ The look of it was insane ㅜㅜ

For two people, we got two crabs each of soy sauce crab and spicy crab.

The side dishes were stir-fried zucchini, seasoned bellflower root, seasoned bean sprouts, seaweed stems, white kimchi, mustard leaf kimchi, japchae (glass noodle stir-fry) and plain roasted seaweed.

The C set also comes with Yeonpyeongdo crab stew, with a whole crab in it. It was loaded with water dropwort (minari), tofu, mushrooms and other vegetables, so it looked like it couldn't help but be delicious haha.

Is Kkotgeok's soy sauce crab too salty?
Kkotgeok's soy crab wasn't salty at all, with a subtle savory depth, a real rice thief (the Korean nickname for a dish you can't stop eating rice with). I started with a big bite of the soy crab, and since it's made with fresh female crab it wasn't fishy at all and tasted great! >.<

It's a rice thief, so squeezing the crab onto the rice and eating it was pure heaven.

Staff tip: butter crab rice wrapped in seaweed
A staff member told me it's delicious mixed with butter, so I tried it right away!

I wrapped the butter-mixed crab rice in plain seaweed and ate it, and it was a can't-go-wrong combination.

Is the spicy crab OK if you can't handle heat?
I expected the spicy crab to be hot, but it wasn't, so it was the best for a spice wimp like me :) It wasn't salty at all and tasted great too. The crab wasn't tough, the meat was plump and the shell was tender, so it was easy to eat.
Everything was delicious without being salty overall, so it looked like a good place to bring your parents.

Yeonpyeongdo crab stew and crab shell bibimbap
I tried the crab stew from the C set too, and the tender crab meat and savory broth went together so well~

Last up: mixing rice in the crab shell >.<

I mixed rice in the crab shell, added sesame oil and ate it, and even though I was already full it vanished in a flash haha.

Can you get Kkotgeok gejang to go?
Kkotgeok Cheonan Yuryang-dong Branch also sells gejang for takeout. I saw at the register that you can take it home, which is handy after a meal! With dessert covered too, it's perfect for a family meal.
Why I recommend Kkotgeok Cheonan Yuryang-dong Branch
Kkotgeok Cheonan Yuryang-dong Branch is a place to eat female-crab soy crab and spicy crab made with fresh Yeonpyeongdo blue crab. With hanok-style dining and separate dog-friendly and regular dining spaces, I strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a Cheonan Korean restaurant or a dog-friendly soy crab spot in Cheonan.
