It is open Tuesday to Sunday, 12:00–22:00, with a break from 15:00 to 17:00 and last order at 21:00. It is closed every Monday.

Looking for a restaurant with atmosphere in Jungangdong, Ansan

I wanted somewhere I could eat good food with a friend and enjoy the atmosphere too, so we went to That Man's Italian Restaurant & Lounge! I usually like Western food like pasta and steak, and this time I wanted a proper meal in a nicer setting.

That's how we ended up at this Italian restaurant in Jungangdong, Ansan. It's an easy walk from Jungang Station, so access is good, and above all the steak and risotto looked delicious, so I had high hopes.

The food was really good, and the atmosphere was great too, so I'd recommend it for a date or a blind date. If you love lamb, please give it a try. I had such a good meal, haha.

The restaurant has a calm, upscale feel, with soft lighting and relaxing music. The atmosphere was the first thing I noticed when I walked in, and it's a space where you can spend a pleasant time while eating.

I prefer places where I can talk quietly over a meal rather than bright, noisy restaurants, and this was exactly that kind of place. When we visited, there were quite a few couples on dates and what looked like blind dates.

The private room at That Man's Italian Restaurant & Lounge seats up to 18, and including the hall, groups of up to 40 are possible, I heard. The room is separate from the main hall.

There was actually a group gathering when we visited, and the separated space looked great for get-togethers. It seems well suited to family meals and birthday parties, and also special occasions like meeting the in-laws, company dinners and bridal showers.

There's a wide range of wine, so it looked great to enjoy with the food. That was another thing that impressed me. Italian dishes like steak and risotto go well with wine, after all.

With the soft lighting and classic atmosphere, a glass of wine would make the dinner even lovelier. I thought it would also be a nice place to come for an anniversary or special day and eat in a relaxed way.

Young lamb French rack steak (43,900 won): any gamey smell?

The young lamb French rack steak (₩43,900) at That Man's Italian Restaurant & Lounge had no gamey smell at all, at least to my taste. It was the dish I was most looking forward to, and it beat my expectations!

Lamb divides people because of its distinctive smell. I like lamb, but sometimes a strong smell is too much for me. This lamb rack steak, though, was truly surprising.

The menu says it uses French rack from lamb under 12 months old, and eating it, the meat was tender and flavorful. Lamb steak can turn tough or strong if badly cooked, but here I could enjoy it without any worry.

I could really taste the meat itself, and the more I ate, the more I understood why they recommend it. If you're looking for lamb steak at a restaurant in Jungangdong, Ansan, I highly recommend this dish. Personally, it was the most memorable dish of the meal.

Squid ink risotto with Ulleungdo squid (23,900 won)

What we ordered with the lamb steak was the Ulleungdo squid ink risotto (₩23,900). According to the menu, it's a squid ink risotto topped with a whole grilled squid from Ulleungdo. I usually like risotto, and squid ink risotto has a different charm from ordinary cream risotto.

It has the deep flavor of squid ink plus the savory depth of seafood, so I had high expectations. Eating it with the steak, the combination was really good. The lamb steak is great for enjoying the meat's own flavor, while the squid ink risotto gives you the taste of the sea, so each had its own appeal.

Since there were two of us, ordering one steak and one risotto meant the dishes didn't overlap, which made it even more satisfying. I'd also recommend it to anyone who wants something a bit different from the usual tomato or cream pasta.

Lamb rack and risotto that lived up to the atmosphere

It wasn't just the atmosphere; the food was satisfying too. A restaurant with good atmosphere doesn't always have good food, right? Sometimes the mood is wonderful but the food is just ordinary, which is a letdown. The lamb steak especially was so good I still think about it, and the squid ink risotto was a great dish to order alongside.

Reading that they care about fresh ingredients and the cooking process raised my expectations, and the actual meal was satisfying too. My friend and I had a great time eating good food in a lovely setting.
