Powdered black soybean drink mixed with water: Garu Seonsaeng 99.3
In short
Garu Seonsaeng Drinkable Raw Soy Milk Black Soybean 99.3 is a powdered soy drink from Korea that can be mixed with water or milk. I tried it with water and found it mildly nutty, with little bean odor and fewer clumps than expected, though it did not become smooth like ready-to-drink soy milk immediately.

What kind of product is Drinkable Raw Soy Milk?
I usually enjoy soy milk, but stocking up on several cartons makes me think about expiration dates and storage space. This time, I tried Garu Seonsaeng Drinkable Raw Soy Milk Black Soybean 99.3, a powdered soy drink that you mix with water or milk.

It says it contains 99.3% black soybeans, so I was curious how much of the ingredient's flavor would come through. When I mixed it with water myself, it dissolved more smoothly than expected and had almost no bean odor, which made it easy to drink.

Unlike ready-to-drink liquid soy milk, you mix the powder to the thickness you want. At first, I worried that it would not dissolve well or would clump, but it dissolved better than I expected.

The product description says it contains only Korean black soybeans and solar salt. It also mentions a patent related to powdered soy milk, but what I noticed firsthand was that it had fewer coarse particles and less of a chalky feeling in my throat when mixed with water.

Is sweetness or black soybean nuttiness stronger?
I usually like black soybean soy milk. I prefer products where the nutty soybean flavor comes through clearly over ones with strong sweetness or aroma.

This product was also closer to the nutty, mild flavor of black soybeans than a strongly sweet soy milk. If you expect sweet soy milk, it may not suit your taste.

The protein content I recorded in the original post is 12 g per serving. However, I did not note the amount of powder used for one serving.

Does it dissolve well in water and is the thickness easy to adjust?
What I liked most was how smoothly it dissolved when I added water and stirred. It did not become exactly like liquid soy milk right away, but for a powdered soy milk, it had relatively few clumps and went down smoothly.
When I did not want it too thick, I added plenty of water. For a richer flavor, I could increase the amount of powder. I found it convenient that I could make it thin or make it nutty and rich depending on my taste.

Did it have a bean odor or chalky taste?
For my taste, there was almost no bean odor. It had the characteristic nutty taste of black soybeans, but the beany or chalky notes were not strong.

Because the sweetness did not come on strongly, it was fine for a light drink in the morning or when I was hungry between meals. I drank it mixed with water; I think mixing it with milk would make it nuttier and more filling.

Can it also be used for kongguksu?
The product details say it can be used not only as soy milk but also for kongguksu (cold soy milk noodles). I have not made kongguksu with it yet, but I thought of mixing it thickly with water and adding noodles, shredded cucumber, sesame seeds, and salt.
I also thought of mixing it with milk or soy milk, or adding a little honey. The water mixture I tried was pleasantly mild without adding anything else.

How was storage and portability?
Compared with storing several cartons of liquid soy milk, the powdered form felt less demanding on space. It was also convenient that I could keep it in my bag and mix it with water or milk.

It tasted clean when mixed with water, and being able to adjust the thickness made it easy to suit my taste. Next time, I plan to mix it a little thicker and try using it for black soybean kongguksu as well.
