Today my husband and I went to When You Bite in Tangjeong for a late-morning brunch that doubled as lunch. We both love brunch and often make it at home, but this time we wanted something a bit different from our usual home menu, so we sought this place out.

Looking back at the photos, both the food and the space were so lovely that I wanted to share it with anyone looking for a brunch café in Tangjeong.

When You Bite's location and hours

When You Bite is located at 72 Maegokhandeul 8-gil, Tangjeong-myeon, Asan-si, Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea, on the 1st floor, open Wednesday through Sunday from 09:30 to 19:00. Last order is at 18:00, closed every Monday and Tuesday, and there's no break time. Parking was available around the building.

Looking at the address, the exact location is actually in Tangjeong, Asan, not Cheonan. But it's not far from Cheonan either, so it's worth keeping in mind for anyone searching for a Cheonan–Asan brunch café.

A pretty space with no signboard

One thing that surprised us on arrival was that there was no big signboard to spot. We first saw a clean, newly-built-looking building with a full glass entrance, and only realized it was When You Bite after checking a small sign posted by the door.

But once we stepped inside, the atmosphere was completely different from what we saw outside. High ceilings and large windows made the whole space feel bright and airy, and white tones blended naturally with wood furniture and a variety of plants.

Toward the back there were even large potted plants and a wooden rocking chair, giving the feel of eating brunch in a pretty garden, which I really liked.

Each table had slightly different chair designs, and it was fun to look at the little props, cups, and dishware — a different kind of charm from a typical franchise brunch café.

When we visited, there were several groups of women as well as couples enjoying brunch together, so it seemed like a great date spot too.

How is When You Bite's egg Benedict?

The first thing we ordered was When You Bite's signature egg Benedict. As soon as the plate arrived, a generous serving of yellow hollandaise sauce and poached egg caught our eye. The sous-vide poached egg was gently soft, paired with homemade low-sodium pork ham and sauce, alongside golden-roasted potatoes on the side — a quite substantial plate. When I cut lightly into the poached egg, a soft yolk flowed out from inside.

The salty flavor of the ham went well with the savory richness of the egg, and the rich hollandaise sauce added to the satisfying brunch feel. Among the egg Benedicts I've had, this one stood out for its overall softness — the texture that seemed to melt in my mouth was especially memorable.

Tilapia Mediterranean pasta review

The second dish we ordered was a Mediterranean-style pasta topped generously with tilapia. Even in photos, a good-sized piece of fish sat on top of the pasta, and tomato, green olives, and black olives added to the pretty color.

The tilapia was cooked moist and tender rather than dry, and easy to cut with a fork. With olives, capers, and tomato added, the flavor was salty yet had a fresh tang, and the savory richness of the oil made the fish and pasta pair quite well together.

If you prefer clean, refreshing pasta over heavy, rich styles like cream pasta, this dish would suit you especially well. With tomato and olives dotted throughout, the flavor kept changing instead of feeling monotonous, so we never got tired of it until the end. We often make brunch at home ourselves, but this kind of combination is hard to recreate at home, so it really felt like dining out.

Lemonade and iced americano

For drinks, we ordered one lemonade and one iced americano. Surprisingly, the lemonade was what stuck with me most that day. A yellow lemon base was visible at the bottom of the glass, packed with ice and carbonation, looking refreshing before I even took a sip. Once stirred and tasted, the tart lemon flavor and fizz spread coolly through my mouth.🧋

It wasn't just sour — it was tangy and just sweet enough, pairing well with the egg Benedict and the pasta. Sipping it between bites of brunch felt like it refreshed my palate, and personally I was quite satisfied. The iced americano was an easy, no-fuss companion to brunch, and also nice to sip slowly and relax with after the meal.🧋

A menu range we appreciated

What we liked about When You Bite was that it isn't just a brunch café with a few kinds of sandwiches or toast. From egg Benedict to pasta, the menu selection felt quite varied, and one side of the store had wine and various other drinks on display. That makes it a good Tangjeong brunch café whether you just want a light coffee-and-brunch outing or something a bit more special.

Overall review of When You Bite in Tangjeong

We both love brunch and often make egg dishes or simple brunch at home, but When You Bite offered a menu lineup clearly different from what we make at home. The moist tilapia with tomato and olives in the Mediterranean pasta was also a refreshingly different way to enjoy it.

Above all, we loved the atmosphere of eating brunch surrounded by plants, which made for a relaxed meal with plenty of conversation. If you're looking for a Tangjeong brunch café or want to enjoy a leisurely late-morning meal at a nice-atmosphere Tangjeong, Asan restaurant, give When You Bite a try. Next time, we'd like to pick out and try some of the other brunch menu items we didn't get to this time.
