🥐 After lunch today, I was trying to figure out where to go next, and ended up at Stack Bakery.

It's in an area near Konkuk University Station that I visit often anyway, and it's also close to Hangang Park, so it's a good spot to stop by whether you're hanging out around Konkuk or heading toward the river. On a nice-weather day like today, sitting outside with bread and coffee looked especially appealing — I liked that about the place.

We're a bakery café centered around croissants and French-style pastries made in-house. From dough to baking every early morning, we put care into freshly baked pastries with real buttery flavor — plain croissants, kaya croissants with kaya jam and gourmet butter, kouign-amann, pain au chocolat and more.
Stack Bakery catches your eye from the outside

The first thing that caught my eye at Stack Bakery's exterior was a huge croissant model. 😆 There's a big croissant sitting out front, and it fit right in with the cute, carefully styled storefront.
The whole place had this warm, photogenic vibe with plenty of spots to snap a picture. I saw neighborhood locals stopping by comfortably, as well as younger people visiting solo or with friends. Maybe that's why it felt less like a stiff formal bakery and more like a relaxed Konkuk bakery café where you can just drop in for bread and coffee.
The smell of bread hits the moment you open the door

The moment I opened the door, the smell of fresh bread hit me... yeah, I can't resist that. 😂 Even before the smell, what caught my eye was the bread lined up neatly in the glass display case.

Wow........ amazing. How can the color of the bread be this pretty! From the golden-brown baked color to that alive, crisp surface — exactly the bakery visuals I love.

Looking around slowly, it wasn't just one item catching my eye — every kind looked delicious. So I spent a while deciding. 😅
Why they're famous for croissants

Turns out Stack Bakery has been featured on YouTube several times. What I found especially interesting was the croissant content by Thibault Guého, a YouTuber and former French model. He's known for a series called "Best Croissant in Seoul," where he visits various bakeries around Korea to taste and rate their croissants.
It's content where he scores texture and flavor based on a French palate, so bread lovers have probably heard of it at least once. In that content, Stack Bakery reportedly scored a high 8.8, alongside places like Montage and Antique, which made me even more curious about the croissants. Apparently they're known for a crisp exterior, moist and layered interior, and a buttery flavor that's rich but not overwhelming!! So today, I decided I was definitely starting with the croissant.
Order on the 1st floor, relax on the 2nd

At Stack Bakery, you order on the 1st floor and eat on the 2nd floor. After ordering bread and coffee, you just carry it upstairs.

The 2nd floor overlooks the neighborhood, and since there's a playground out front, it didn't feel as closed-in as I expected.
Even in the middle of the day, there were customers of all ages — solo college students, office workers, even elderly visitors.

It seemed great for having a coffee and bread alone, or for chatting with a friend over time. We also took our bread and coffee up to the 2nd floor and settled into a comfortable seat.

What we ordered today

Everything looked delicious so it took a bit of time to decide what to get. I wanted to try it all, but there's only so much room in my stomach...ㅠㅠ

I ended up picking a pretty varied lineup today.
Thibault Guého isn't the only one who gets to eat, lol. I ordered one plain croissant. It's cheap and the actual quality is even better in person. You really have to try this one...

We carried our bread and coffee up to the 2nd floor.

First up, of course: the plain croissant
The first thing I tried was, of course, the plain croissant! The moment I bit in — crisp! The outer layers were alive and crackly while the inside was moist and soft, and the more I chewed, the more that nutty buttery flavor came through.
The crispness, the nuttiness, the flavor — it all came together really well. Personally, this ranks among the best croissants I've ever had. No wonder it scored so high.
This croissant deserves even over-the-top praise! If you love croissants, you really need to try this one.
It even made me think that if I ever had to gift someone bread, I'd want to buy it here. It also seemed like a flavor that wouldn't split opinions much, from kids to adults.
The hazelnut kouign-amann I was most curious about

And the bread I was personally most curious about was the hazelnut kouign-amann. One bite in and... wow... so good!

The outside was sweet and crisp while the inside had a nutty flavor, and it paired really well with coffee. Since it's a bit sweet, it went perfectly with the iced americano. One bite of bread, a sip of coffee, then another bite of bread. That combo just kept going. 😂
Wait, the coffee is actually good too?
And here's a twist I didn't expect: the coffee. Usually at a bakery you're thinking about the bread first, but Stack Bakery's coffee was pretty impressive too.

Sipping the iced americano, the nuttiness and a subtle acidity balanced out nicely. The owner mentioned they'd recently upgraded the coffee, and after one sip, I could see what they meant. It's not just the bread that's good — the coffee matches well too, which bumped up my overall satisfaction. ☕️
A good stop before heading to the Han River
Stack Bakery is a place I'd recommend to anyone looking for a Konkuk bakery café. It's close to Konkuk University Station and also convenient for heading toward Hangang Park, so on a nice day, picking up bread here to bring to the river sounds like a great idea.

Especially if you're looking for something a bit different from the usual Ttukseom Hangang Park restaurants or cafés, grabbing bread here and heading to the river makes for a nice little route. 🌿
Good with friends, good with family, and also good for enjoying bread and coffee quietly on your own. Above all, the bread itself was so good that I want to come back.
Wrapping up today's Stack Bakery visit
Stack Bakery today was satisfying across the board — visuals, flavor, and coffee. The plain croissant especially — highly recommend! Crisp outside, moist inside, with real buttery flavor coming through, croissant lovers should definitely try it. The hazelnut kouign-amann was sweet and crisp too, great alongside coffee.

If you're looking for a good bakery around Konkuk, it's worth remembering Stack Bakery as a Jayang-dong favorite. A relaxed day spent enjoying good bread and coffee.

The weather was great too, which made it even better. 😊 If you're looking for a Konkuk café favorite, it's Stack Bakery — I think I'll be back. 🥐☕
