Stroller-friendly Dongdaegu Station lamb skewers: Yangbokjeom
In short
Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch is a lamb skewer and quabaorou (sweet-and-sour fried pork) restaurant in the food alley by Dongdaegu Station in Dong-gu, Daegu. Arriving right at the 5pm opening meant no wait and a table with space set aside for a stroller, then two servings of thick lamb skewers (8 skewers per serving, minimum 2 servings) and the signature black quabaorou. The lamb had no gamey smell and the tangy-sweet black quabaorou sauce was the dish worth coming back for.

Today I visited Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch, a lamb skewer and quabaorou (Chinese sweet and sour crispy meat) spot in the Dongdaegu Station food alley in Daegu. With its trendy, clean Chinese-style interior and generous portions that don't skimp on taste, it felt like an upscale lamb skewer place. Cherry Father, who usually loves lamb skewers, raved about this one, so let me introduce Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch.

Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch: location, hours and is there a wait?
Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Branch is about a 6-minute walk from Shinsegae Department Store.
🕒 Hours 🕒 17:00 – 1:00 the next day (opens at 16:00 on Sundays)
❌ Closed days ❌ None
We did an open-run at 5pm so there was no one waiting at the entrance, but on Fridays or weekends there's always a long line, so it's best to book ahead.

A restaurant-like room in Dong-gu: can you bring a stroller?
Inside, Yangbokjeom is split into two spaces plus one private room, giving it a restaurant vibe you don't usually get at lamb skewer places. The wood-tone interior with green patterned wallpaper had a classic feel, and the overall clean yet upscale atmosphere made it perfect for a date.
The seats were spaced widely, though it was a bit tricky to fit a stroller. The owner and staff kindly arranged a space for us, so we were able to eat comfortably — much appreciated.

Dipping sauces and side dishes at Yangbokjeom
On the table there's curry, cumin (jjiran), and chwallyo sauce for dipping the lamb skewers, plus side dishes of pickled radish (jjasai), peppers, radish pickle, and peanuts. They were great with the skewers or just eaten on their own.

Ordering by table kiosk and what to choose
You order through the kiosk attached to the table, and every menu item has a photo, so you can check it visually before ordering — really convenient.
Yangbokjeom's lamb skewers are thicker than other specialty lamb skewer shops, which gives them a better texture. Note that skewers can only be ordered starting from 2 servings. We also ordered the signature black quabaorou, which they said you can only get at Yangbokjeom, so we had to try it.

Two servings of lamb skewers, 8 skewers per serving
We ordered two servings of lamb skewers, which comes to 8 skewers per serving. Fewer skewers, but the meat was thick and looked high quality.

You fit the notched part of the skewer into place and press the round button, and the machine grills it for you automatically. Since the notches are on both sides, people usually place the handles zigzag to eat together, but because of the baby we had one person grill and share.

Once grilled to the right point, you move the skewers up so they don't burn or go cold, then pull them off onto a plate one skewer at a time.

How did the Yangbokjeom lamb skewers taste?
Thanks to good charcoal, the lamb skewers had a subtle smoky flavor, and there was no gamey smell at all. The thick cut meant great juiciness and texture — this made me think 'now this is a proper lamb skewer place.'
For an even better bite, you can dip them in curry, cumin, or chwallyo sauce to taste — personally I like mixing all three together.

After eating, you put the used skewer sticks into the collection container.

The signature black quabaorou at Yangbokjeom
This black quabaorou is only available at Yangbokjeom. It looked different from typical quabaorou, and the sauce was unique too.

The quabaorou had thick meat, crispy on the outside and chewy inside — a proper, classic quabaorou. The meat was well-seasoned enough to eat without sauce too. The sauce tasted sweet like chili sauce with a slight tang, and a bit spicy, probably from the peppers in it. When you get a little tired of the lamb skewers, that tangy sauce was refreshing.

Is Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station worth it?
On Fridays or weekends the wait is always long, so book ahead before you visit.
The staff's kindness felt great, and everything from the no-gamey-smell, thick, quality lamb skewers to the unique but appealing black quabaorou was memorable. The interior and atmosphere also set it apart from other lamb skewer places with a genuinely upscale feel, making it a fine choice for an anniversary or date. If you want proper lamb skewers, give Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch a visit.
