The trendy wakppu salt bread!
You know wakppu, right? The thing you squish with your hands to relieve stress. When I first heard it had come out as a salt bread (a soft, salty-topped bread roll), I got curious right away. They said it covers both the fun of eating and stress relief, so I went to try it myself :) This is my visit to Byway Bakers Byeollae Branch.
Where is Byway Bakers Byeollae Branch, and can you park?
Byway Bakers Byeollae Branch is at 27-10 Deoksong 2-ro 10beon-gil, Namyangju, right in front of Byeolgaram Station (별가람역). If you drive, parking in front of the shop is difficult, so I recommend stopping briefly in the side alley. (Visited: June 18, 2026)
By subway the access is really good, and it's not far from Seoul, so it's an easy casual stop.

It's on the main road so it isn't hard to find, but there are lots of shops around, so it can be confusing.

Look for the orange signboard! Remember just that and you'll find it right away. I got mixed up once at first too.
Is Byway Bakers Byeollae Branch takeout only?
Yes, Byway Bakers Byeollae Branch is a takeout-only shop with no dine-in. So you can buy quickly without a wait, and turnover is fast overall.

Inside, there are quite a lot of types, like financiers (small almond butter cakes) and salt bread, and my eyes were spinning. There are package discounts too, so it works for gifts as well.

Some items can be sampled, so feel free to taste once before choosing!

The trendy wakppu salt bread was there too... a few were left, but I came late, so I couldn't buy one and went home..

My eyes are going everywhere. There's so much tasty stuff, and I can't eat it all, so it's a dilemma.

Honestly I almost bought something else too, but I got my head straight and grabbed only my target!
How does the Dubai chocolate salt bread at Byway Bakers taste?
Wakppu salt bread and Dubai chocolate salt bread, to go

At Byway Bakers I packed up the wakppu salt bread and the Dubai chocolate salt bread. Because of its shape, the wakppu salt bread has to be carried carefully.

The Dubai chocolate salt bread looks delicious from the first glance, and it has kadaif (shredded phyllo pastry) and pistachio inside, so the texture is quite fun.

It feels more like a dessert bread than a plain salt bread!

The salty + nutty + sweet combo works, and if you like dduk-jjon-ku (Dubai chewy cookies), you'll definitely like this. Personally, I was more satisfied than expected!
Does pressing the wakppu salt bread really relieve stress?

The wakppu salt bread at Byway Bakers is the one I bought out of pure curiosity. It sells out if you go late, so I recommend going early.

When you press it, it gives softer than I expected, and there's a strange addictive quality that keeps you pressing.
It's definitely fun as a stress reliever. I worried about powder flying around, but it wasn't that bad, and since it's bread, you can enjoy it cleanly.

Fresh mango is inside, so if you like mango, you'll be happy! The sound wasn't as loud as I'd hoped, but there was still plenty of fun.
Is the wakppu salt bread in Byeollae worth trying?
Trying the trendy wakppu salt bread myself, it felt less like a simple dessert and more like an experience, so I enjoyed it even more. The taste isn't bad and it's fun too, so it's worth trying once! If you're heading to Byeollae, I think you could stop by Byway Bakers :)
