I was looking for somewhere to have dinner in Byeollae, Namyangju, and found a spot worth writing about.

It's Gojip Tongmuneo Kalguksu Byeollae Byeolgaram Station Branch. The name makes it sound like it's all about kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup), but they actually have a pretty wide range of seafood dishes — cuttlefish bulgogi, whelk clams, whole octopus kalguksu — so it works well as a dinner spot too.

We went on a weekday evening and luckily got seated right away with no wait. I'd read a lot of reviews mentioning a lunch wait, but dinner was a lot more relaxed, which was nice.
Where is Gojip Tongmuneo Kalguksu in Byeollae, and is there parking?
The address is 450-31 Sunhwagung-ro, B1F, Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. It's easy to reach from Byeollae Byeolgaram Station, and there's a parking lot behind the building, which made driving over convenient too.

When we visited, there was plenty of parking space, so no real inconvenience there.

On a weekday evening the restaurant itself felt fairly relaxed too, good for a family meal.
What three adults ordered at Gojip Tongmuneo, and what it cost

We ordered three things at Gojip Tongmuneo Byeollae Byeolgaram Station Branch that day.
- Cuttlefish bulgogi, medium — ₩49,000
- Whelk clams — ₩9,000
- Fried rice, 2 servings — ₩6,000
The portions were plenty. The medium cuttlefish bulgogi in particular turned out bigger than expected, and three adults had no problem finishing it comfortably.
Is the medium cuttlefish bulgogi enough for three people?

Starting with the main dish, the cuttlefish bulgogi. When it first arrived, the portion already looked generous.

There wasn't just a modest amount of cuttlefish — it was noticeably loaded in, so we never felt short on it while eating.

The vegetables and sauce blended together nicely, so it went well with rice too. The cuttlefish itself wasn't chewy — it was tender, which made for good texture. We ordered the mild version, and I'd recommend going mild.

I heard the spicy version is quite strong, so unless you're genuinely great with spice, I'd suggest starting with mild on your first visit. Even mild was spicy enough and paired perfectly with the cuttlefish.
Mulchong clams: the broth worth finishing to the last spoon

Next, the whelk clams we ordered alongside. At ₩9,000 I expected a side-dish-sized portion, but it was surprisingly generous. Plenty of clams, and above all, the broth was really refreshing.

Since the cuttlefish bulgogi is spicy, sipping the whelk clam broth in between worked really well. It was so clean and refreshing that we ended up finishing almost the whole bowl.

If you're ordering the cuttlefish bulgogi, I'd recommend getting the whelk clams too. The combo of spicy dish and cool broth was better than I expected.
Fried rice for two to finish the cuttlefish bulgogi pan

We were going to stop there, but you know how it is with stir-fried dishes — you have to finish with fried rice made from the leftover sauce.

So we added fried rice for two at ₩6,000. Frying rice in the leftover sauce felt like a whole different dish, and we enjoyed it all the way to the last bite. The cuttlefish bulgogi sauce is tasty enough that the fried rice was hard to mess up.

Even though we were already pretty full from the main dish, the fried rice went down easily. Personally, I think you haven't properly finished the cuttlefish bulgogi experience unless you eat the fried rice too.
Does a kalguksu restaurant work for dinner?

With a name like Gojip Tongmuneo Kalguksu, I originally pictured a place you'd go strictly for noodle soup. But after visiting for dinner and trying the cuttlefish bulgogi, it turned out to be plenty good for dinner or a family outing. Especially with the medium cuttlefish bulgogi plus whelk clams plus fried rice, the portions were filling and the lineup was satisfying. Eating spicy cuttlefish bulgogi, taking a sip of cool whelk clam broth, then finishing with fried rice — that combo worked really well.
