Bucheon bakery, 3 barley loaves frozen then air-fried: Chamsae Bori

A must-queue, Korea's number one loaf bakery! This is my visit review of Chamsae Bori Sikppang, Bucheon main branch (참새보리식빵 부천본점). It sells out if you're late, so I couldn't find the right timing for a while and it's been quite some time since my last visit to this Bucheon Station favorite. And it's still sooo good ♥

Chamsae Bori Sikppang, Bucheon main branch: location, hours and parking

Chamsae Bori Sikppang, Bucheon main branch is at 183-1 Gyeongin-ro, Sosa-gu, Bucheon, on the first floor. It's open 10am to 8pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and 10am to 1:20pm on Sunday. It's closed every Monday and Thursday. There's no dedicated parking!

What time does Chamsae Bori Sikppang sell out?

The bakery opens at 10am, but these days it usually sells out around noon, and some days it's even faster. It's closed every Monday and Thursday, so keep that in mind! Sellout info is posted in a KakaoTalk open chat room, so I recommend checking ahead so you don't make a wasted trip.

I... once went at 10:30 and had to turn back..ㅠㅠ So if you're planning to visit this Bucheon Station favorite, I recommend going right at opening if you can.^^

Arriving at 10:10am: how was the wait?

I got to Chamsae Bori Sikppang, Bucheon main branch around 10:10, just after opening~ There was a little wait, but I got in quickly. Thanks to arriving early, I saw the shelves piled full of bread.^^ Last time I ran into the sold-out sign right in front of my eyes ㅠㅠ so this time I hurried, lol

Chamsae Bori Sikppang, Bucheon main branch focuses on just three loaves. The Grand Prize and grain barley loaves are the big size, available as whole loaves or sliced, and the rye barley loaf is the mini size.

Financiers and the receipt review event

Strawberry jam and mascarpone milk cream

There's also strawberry jam for ₩6,900 and mascarpone milk cream for ₩3,700! If you'll eat them with your bread, buy them together. Chamsae Bori is a cream place too! It's a smooth, homemade milk cream that goes well with the bread.

How to store Chamsae Bori bread and enjoy it from the air fryer

• Room temperature: eat within 3 days.
• Freezer: seal it airtight from the start, freeze, and thaw at room temperature for half a day before eating.
• The milk cream must be refrigerated!

I freeze my Chamsae Bori bread and then bake it in the air fryer, and it gets nicely crisp outside~ while staying moist and soft inside!

My order: 3 barley loaves for ₩19,900

At Chamsae Bori Sikppang, Bucheon main branch I ordered a Grand Prize barley loaf (₩6,000), a grain barley loaf (₩6,500) and 2 rye barley loaves (₩3,700 each), ₩19,900 in total. I picked one of each type, and chose 2 of the mini loaves.^^

Of the two loaves, the left is the grain barley and the right is the Grand Prize barley~ If you're curious about the taste of Korea's number one loaf, go for the Grand Prize barley on the right! ^^

Grand Prize barley ₩6,000: moist even eaten plain

The Grand Prize barley loaf is ₩6,000. I picked a pre-sliced one, but I saw people buying whole loaves too. The soft, moist texture is so good that I think it'd be great as a whole loaf!

I always toast regular bread in a toaster, but the Grand Prize barley is so moist and soft by itself that you really get the full texture eating it as is! Eat it plain for soft and moist, or toast it for extra crunch~ enjoy it however you like.^^

Grain barley ₩6,500: a slightly bitter meal bread with roasted walnuts

The grain barley loaf is ₩6,500 and is a nutty bread studded with roasted walnuts! Unlike the Grand Prize barley, it has a slightly bitter note, a healthy-tasting grain meal bread!

The texture was soft and chewy and delicious too, but a bit coarser than the Grand Prize barley~ and it tastes a little healthier! I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a healthy-tasting meal bread.^^

Rye barley ₩3,700: walnut, rye and cranberry mini loaf

The rye barley loaf is ₩3,700 and has more toppings than the two basic meal breads. It's a mini size but not that small, just right for 2 to 3 people to share.

It has a nutty, plain flavor that's easy to enjoy, and with walnuts, rye and cranberries the texture feels varied too! It's a nutty, healthy-tasting bread.
