I've been coming here since I was in middle school... and it's genuinely delicious! It's on the university street so it's great value too, so I highly, highly recommend it haha. If you're looking for a Western-style restaurant near Hannam University, this is a strong recommendation! It's also close to Mongsimi, so I recommend the course of eating at Cement and then heading to Mongsimi haha.

Where is Cement Hannam-daebonjeom, and what does it look like?

Cement Hannam-daebonjeom is on the Hannam University street, on Hannam-ro 12beon-gil in Daedeok-gu, Daejeon. Here's the storefront first! The shop is located toward the front of the building with the entrance right in view, so it's super, super easy to find haha. Thanks to the pink accent door and unique exterior, you can spot it right away even from a distance!!

Inside Cement: interior and seating

The inside of Cement has a cute yet distinctive interior! Various paintings and posters decorate the walls, and one wall has sofa seating, which makes it even more comfortable! The tables and chairs are neatly arranged, so it felt like a good place to visit with friends and eat comfortably. What impressed me was that instead of the usual clean, generic restaurant feel, they used paintings and props here and there to give Cement its own vibe :) Overall, it wasn't too formal a place, which I liked, since you can just eat comfortably.

Ordering at the kiosk and using the self-bar

At Cement you order via kiosk, which was convenient haha. You can pay right away too, so it was super simple and nice! There are photos on the menu too, so you can pick while looking at the pictures, which is great haha.

There's also a self-bar set up inside the store! The utensils, side plates, and sauces needed for the meal were neatly organized, and you could just grab what you needed yourself.

Spicy bulgogi tomato risotto, ₩9,500

📍 Spicy bulgogi tomato risotto (₩9,500) — One of the dishes we ordered first was this tomato-based risotto! Look at the portion... I've never seen a place serve risotto in such a big amount. Super delicious and huge portion, seriously great value 👍 If you like tomato sauce, this is a menu you can enjoy without fail!

Bacon cream pasta, ₩8,900

📍 Bacon cream pasta (₩8,900) — The pasta noodles came out beautifully arranged on the plate :) The cream sauce was smooth and savory and paired well with the noodles — if you like thick, rich cream pasta, I think you'll really enjoy this 🤤 Pasta tastes best eaten hot right when it comes out, so I dug in as soon as it arrived 🥹 While the tomato risotto was spicy and rich, the cream pasta was soft and savory, so ordering both together let us enjoy two different flavors 🤍

Half-and-half pizza, ₩14,000: potato and bulgogi salad

📍 Half-and-half pizza (₩14,000) — This half-and-half pizza is insane... half-and-half for fourteen thousand won?? Legendary value. We did half potato and half bulgogi salad pizza! Next time I think I'll get a whole pizza of the bulgogi salad kind 🥹 Potato used to be my favorite, but the moment I tried the bulgogi one, that changed haha.

Looking at the photo again makes me want to eat it all over again 🤤

Why Cement works for a meal with friends near Hannam University

Cement didn't feel like an overly formal restaurant — it had a comfortable vibe good for visiting and eating with friends 👍 The inside is decorated with unique paintings and interior touches, so beyond the food, it was fun just to look around the store, and having a tablet ordering system at the table made it easy to check the menu and order too. Above all, the food was so delicious and the portions so big that I highly recommend it!
