Is it good for a family lunch near Buk-myeon Hot Springs?

Over the weekend, I went to Buk-myeon in Changwon for lunch with my mother and husband, combining it with a drive. We visited Myeongin Dwaeji Gukbap (명인돼지국밥) because we wanted pork soup, which we usually enjoy.

It is close to Buk-myeon Hot Springs, so I thought it would be a good place to stop for a meal after using the hot springs. There were many family groups when we visited on Sunday lunchtime.

Were the parking and interior convenient?

There was a large dedicated parking lot in front of the building, so parking was easy. I tend to worry about parking space on days when I travel by car, but I liked that there was plenty of room here.

I also noticed the waiting tickets made from hwatu cards. My husband and I do not know hwatu well, so we could not make out the numbers, but the unusual tickets made us laugh together.

The interior was generally clean and spacious. There were plenty of tables, making it comfortable for a family meal, and it seemed like a place where you could eat alone without feeling awkward.

What did we order, and how much did it cost?

I ordered sundae gukbap (Korean blood sausage soup with rice) for ₩10,000, my husband ordered mixed gukbap for ₩10,000, and my mother ordered suyuk baekban (boiled pork set meal) for ₩13,000. A large baekban portion was listed as an additional ₩2,000. Takeout was available for orders of gukbap for two or more, and rice had to be ordered separately.

What side dishes came with the meal, and could we refill them?

The basic side dishes were kimchi, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), and gangdoenjang, a thick soybean paste made in-house. I liked having gangdoenjang on lettuce as a side with a different flavor from the gukbap.

We could get extra side dishes from the self-service bar. There were plenty prepared, so we refilled the ones we wanted.

How generous and tender was the suyuk baekban?

Suyuk baekban was a meal where you could have gukbap and boiled pork together. There were a few pieces of meat in the soup, with boiled pork served separately. Although it was a one-person meal, the portion of boiled pork was generous, so I was satisfied with the ₩13,000 price.

The boiled pork had no off smell and was tender. It was good on its own or added to the gukbap, and I also enjoyed putting it on lettuce with gangdoenjang or mumallaengi (seasoned dried radish strips).

How were the broth and ingredients in the sundae gukbap?

The sundae gukbap I ordered was generously filled with sundae and meat. The milky broth was light yet rich, and it tasted clean.

I do not usually eat somyeon (thin wheat noodles), but that day I added them to the broth too. They went well with the light broth. I also consider kimchi important at a gukbap restaurant, and the kimchi here suited my taste, so I enjoyed it with the soup.

What did my family think after the meal?

At the time of our visit, there was also a promotion offering one drink for writing a receipt review.

All three of us had a filling lunch. My husband especially said it was the best gukbap he had eaten recently. On the way out after our meal, we also had cold coffee.
