I visited Geumdeungeo Deulanguil Main Branch (금등어 들안길 본점) for a hearty Korean meal on Deulan-gil in Daegu. I ordered the two-person wood-fired grilled mackerel set, added seasoned cockles, and ate it with a variety of side dishes.

Where is Geumdeungeo Deulanguil Main Branch, and is parking available?
The restaurant is on the second floor at 57 Deulan-ro, Suseong-gu, Daegu. Parking was available, and I found it convenient when I visited. It is close to Suseong Lake, so I thought it would be nice to look around the area before or after a meal.
According to the original post, hours are 11:00–21:20 Monday through Saturday, with last orders at 20:40. On Sundays, it is open 11:00–20:40, with last orders at 20:00. Break time is 15:30–17:00.

Is this a good space for family meals or group gatherings?
The interior was spacious and pleasant. The high ceilings and large windows kept it from feeling cramped, creating a comfortable atmosphere for a meal. With group seating and private rooms, it seemed suitable for occasions with several people, such as a family meal with older relatives or a company dinner.

What did the wood-fired grilled mackerel taste like?
The wood-fired grilled mackerel I ordered was a two-person portion. Their signature nuruk-aged wood-fired mackerel is said to be aged with nuruk salt containing rice nuruk (fermentation starter), then grilled in a 450°C wood-fired oven.
When I tried it, the skin was crisp while the flesh was moist, and I liked the contrast in texture. The fishy flavor was not overpowering for me; it tasted nutty and clean. With rice, it made for a satisfying meal.
The seasonal side dishes were varied and neatly presented. It was enjoyable to pair them one by one with the grilled fish, and the self-service bar was convenient because I could take side dishes freely without waiting.

How were the seasoned cockles and post-meal coffee?
Since I like cockles, I added seasoned cockles as well. Their chewy texture and savory seasoning paired nicely with the mild grilled mackerel. Together with the many side dishes, I could enjoy a balanced variety of foods.
After finishing the meal, I wrapped up with coffee from the self-service bar, available hot or cold. What stayed with me was that this was not just grilled mackerel, but a full meal with side dishes.
