Today I'm sharing a review of CURRY146 Gangnam Branch, an Indian curry restaurant in Seolleung. If you like curry, you've probably been already, since it's pretty much the one curry spot in Seolleung. It's also a popular pick for Seolleung company dinners and group gatherings, so here's my review.
CURRY146 Gangnam Branch: location and hours
From Seolleung Station Exit 2, walk up the street for about 3 minutes and you'll see CURRY146. Hours are Monday 11:00-21:30 with last order at 21:00, and it's closed every Sunday.
Exterior
The outside advertises the main curry dishes. The restaurant is in the basement, so watch your step on the stairs going down.

Interior
Inside, lots of people come to eat alone, so there are tables for 2, plus tables that seat up to 8 for company dinners and group get-togethers. The interior is modern rather than Indian-themed.
CURRY146 menu: curry, naan, salad

Here's the CURRY146 menu. They sell a wide variety of curries, naan can be ordered separately, and best of all there's a good range of salads too. When you're out for lunch with coworkers and nobody can decide what to eat, it's nice that you can have curry and salad together!
What we ordered and how ordering works
- Butter Kitchen Curry ₩12,500
- Korma Curry ₩10,500

Once you sit down, you order at the kiosk and pay upfront. Next to it there are various sauces, which I guess you'd need if you get a salad or a side dish.
Butter Kitchen Curry (₩12,500): how does it taste?

Ta-da, the Butter Kitchen Curry from CURRY146 arrives! It has big chunks of tender chicken right in the curry, and it's so good.

Turmeric rice can be added free from the menu, so if one naan isn't enough for you, definitely add it. Naan with curry is tasty, but you know Koreans only feel properly full once there's rice involved, right..?

Putting the salad that comes with it on top of the naan works fine too.

The curry sauce isn't spicy. Since it's a butter and chicken curry, it's nutty and has a really strong savory depth. When you want a bit of texture, it goes just right with the pickles, I think?

For an adult man, one portion is just about the right amount of full, and once I added rice it was more food than I expected. I'd recommend not dipping too much sauce onto the naan and taking small bites. The butter aroma hits hard, so eating little and often tasted better.
Korma Curry (₩10,500): a good healthy option

Next is the Korma Curry my girlfriend ordered. It's a curry with shrimp. The photo shows grilled shrimp on top, but a note says the image was made with grilled shrimp to help customers understand.
It comes with a green salad, Indian curry, vegetable toppings and a 7-inch naan, and it's a healthy set that lots of people on a diet order.
Of course it tastes milder than the butter chicken, but it's like the curry we often eat in Korea, so it didn't feel lacking or disappointing.

Again, adding turmeric rice is when you really get the CURRY146 flavor.

Personally, I felt the korma goes much better with turmeric rice than dipping naan into it. It's full of assorted vegetables, so it's easy to eat without feeling heavy, which I liked.

So that was my review of CURRY146, a healthy Indian curry restaurant I'd recommend in Seolleung for company dinners and group gatherings. I don't eat curry that often, but every time I do I get pulled further into its charm, so I'll be back!
