Seolleung curry restaurant with spinach curry and vindaloo: CURRY146
In short
CURRY146 Gangnam Branch is a British-style Indian curry restaurant on the basement level of a building near Exit 2 of Seolleung Station in Gangnam, Seoul. A couple ordered spinach curry, vindaloo curry and a falafel salad, with free turmeric rice and the naan that comes standard with each curry: the spinach curry tasted buttery and nutty, while the vindaloo started sour before the heat rose. CURRY146 was good enough that they ordered it again by delivery at home two days later.

I'd had this place bookmarked for a while, hearing they served British-style Indian curry, thinking I really needed to check it out.

CURRY146 is on the basement level of a building near Exit 2 of Seolleung Station.
I was a bit worried since it's underground, but once we went down, it was so cozy, and the stairs themselves were clean and pretty.

Once inside, the ceilings were high and the space was quite spacious — much more comfortable than I'd expected.

What we ordered at CURRY146: one naan free per curry
We ordered vindaloo curry, spinach curry, and a falafel salad that day, plus the free turmeric rice option.

At first we ordered two extra naans separately, but the staff told us each curry already comes with a free naan, so we cancelled the extra order.

Inside the basement dining room — does CURRY146 work for group dinners?
While we were ordering and looking around the restaurant, I noticed a neon sign on one wall reading BRITISH CURRY DAY.

The atmosphere was so nice that I thought it'd be great for a group gathering too, so I looked up the hours right away — turns out there's no break time either.

Rather than feeling like a decorated Indian restaurant, it had more of a casual, comfortable restaurant vibe. They also sell BBQ and grill dishes alongside the curries, so it was fun just browsing the menu. I thought it'd also be nice to pair curry with a beer in the evening, and while looking at the menu I noticed the wine corkage is free too.

How does the spinach curry taste?
Here's the spinach curry I ordered.

I originally chose it because I love vegetable curries, and with the grilled vegetable topping, salad, naan, and turmeric rice all together, the colors were so pretty.

It was full of buttery aroma, really nutty and subtly sweet at the same time. It went down smoothly and really suited me.
The naan was bigger than I expected. I thought it'd be just a small side to the curry, but after eating one piece it was actually quite filling.
With the turmeric rice on top of that, I got pretty full. But it was so delicious that I kept eating anyway.

Vindaloo curry at CURRY146: sour first, then the heat
Next was the vindaloo curry my husband ordered. I tried a bite too, and the first taste was really unexpected. "Wait, this is so sour?" I thought — and then the sourness passed and suddenly the heat rushed in. "Wait, this is so spicy?" I was startled by how spicy it was, but oddly enough, once I had one bite, I immediately wanted another — it was that addictive.

In the end I kept going back for more, saying "what even is this, why do I keep wanting to eat it" haha. At first the sour-then-spicy combo caught me off guard, but it was the kind of flavor that kept pulling my hand back. It was ridiculously addictive — a dangerously sexy dish, honestly.
These two go so well together. You really have to eat them both.

Is the falafel salad worth adding?
We also ordered a falafel salad, which was nice to pick at in between bites of curry.

The falafel salad had these round, deep brown fried balls in it, kind of like doojjonkku (a Korean fried snack).
That's falafel — chickpeas or fava beans ground up with herbs and spices, then fried. It tasted completely different from the yogurt salad served alongside it, so it was nice to alternate between the two.

Ordering CURRY146 by delivery two days later
The food was so good that day that a question suddenly popped into my head.
"Does this place deliver to our place?" So while we were eating, we checked Coupang Eats and Baemin, and it turned out they did deliver. And we actually ordered it again just two days later.

Proof of our own-money delivery curry, ordered just two days later ♥ Gotta order it again next week.
