Seolleung conveyor-belt sushi, kimchi beef plate: Sushi Ian N
In short
Sushi Ian N Seolleung Station is a second-floor conveyor-belt sushi restaurant under a 5-minute walk from Seolleung Station Exit 2 in Gangnam, Seoul, where every plate is 1,990 won. Returning after a first visit in June, the writer took a counter seat on a weekday just after 1pm and ate salmon tartare roll, laver shrimp, aged kimchi sushi, wagyu, soy-marinated shrimp, two plates of salmon onion sushi and kimchi beef sushi, finishing with pineapple. Anything not circling on the belt can be ordered straight from the chef, which makes Sushi Ian N an easy place to eat alone.

I'm a digital nomad who eats books for a living, haha. After eating at Sushi Ian N Seolleung Station, a well-known sushi spot in Daechi-dong, back in June, I went back for round two.

It's less than 5 minutes from Seolleung Station Exit 2, so getting there is easy. I've been to plenty of sushi restaurants around Seoul, but at ₩1,990 a plate with quality this good, I just had to come back.

Is the counter at Sushi Ian N comfortable for eating alone at 1pm on a weekday?
Since I was dining solo, I arrived just after 1pm. There were counter seats, so eating alone felt totally comfortable. I actually saw other solo diners too, so this seems like a solid spot for office workers' lunch or a solo meal near Seolleung Station.

Not on the belt? Order it straight from the chef at Sushi Ian N
Sushi Ian N Seolleung Station has plenty of variety on the conveyor belt already, but if you tell the chefs what you want, they'll make it right away, so you can comfortably eat exactly what you're craving.
There's fun in waiting for sushi to come around on the belt, but it was also convenient to be able to order directly when I couldn't spot what I wanted. Especially for things I love, like salmon or beef tartare, being able to have them made fresh without waiting was great.

If you post a Naver review, you can also get a free plate of sushi or a canned drink.

Sushi Ian N Seolleung Station menu and prices
Half udon (₩3,700) and half cold soba (₩4,200) are also popular at Sushi Ian N Seolleung. I had the half udon last time, but today I was going all in on sushi.

If you need green tea, just ask the staff.

The must-try popular sushi here includes egg shrimp, beef tartare, beef tartare tataki, salmon tartare roll, grilled shrimp, beef steak, and salmon tartare tataki. Make sure you get these.

The real charm of conveyor-belt sushi is watching the belt for what's coming next even while you eat. Since I'd been before, I picked out the ones I remembered loving last time.

The wasabi was real fresh wasabi too, which was great. Counter seats have pickled radish and ginger — ready to scoop out as much as I wanted!

They brought the soup broth out separately.

Salmon tartare roll, laver shrimp and wagyu: the plates picked on this return visit
First up, no hesitation — salmon tartare roll. The beef tartare at Sushi Ian N, the well-known sushi spot in Daechi-dong, is surprisingly good.

I've been really into laver (dried seaweed) flavor lately, so I ordered laver shrimp too, and with aged kimchi sushi and wagyu sushi in the mix, it wasn't just fish — I got to enjoy meat too, which made for a satisfying lunch.
Having so many types of sushi is another plus. Eating nothing but fish sushi can get a bit monotonous, but with beef tartare and wagyu-style options mixed in, it was nice to switch flavors along the way.
At ₩1,990 a plate, I also liked being able to try lots of different kinds. If it's your first visit, I'd suggest trying a few popular plates first, then ordering more of whatever suits your taste.

I didn't skip the soy sauce shrimp either.

Salmon didn't happen to be on the belt much, so I ordered two plates of salmon onion sushi and ate them up happily.

I was going to stop, but kimchi beef sushi rolling out across the belt caught my radar, so I had it as my last dish.

I finished off with pineapple as a palate cleanser — a solid solo meal all around.

Does Sushi Ian N Seolleung Station work for groups as well as solo diners?
I used the counter seats, but there are also tables, so it seems like it'd work fine for a group meal too.

Whether you're eating solo or looking for a casual spot for a lunch appointment or small gathering near Seolleung Station, this place works well. If you're looking for great-value conveyor-belt sushi near Seolleung Station, or just want to try lots of different sushi without worrying about the bill, I recommend Sushi Ian N Seolleung Station!
