Shrimp-topped karai yakisoba at Jojo, a Mullae teppan restaurant
In short
Jojo Mullae Branch is a Japanese teppan restaurant in Mullae Art Village, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, serving okonomiyaki, monjayaki and yakisoba. On a weekday half-day off, after the lunch rush, the order was the monjachaki 2-person set at 39,500 won (mentaiko monjayaki + yakisoba + waterfall potato), with karai yakisoba chosen and shrimp added; a staff member cooked the monjayaki on the teppan and set a 5-minute timer, and the salty result went just as well with soju. Jojo Mullae Branch is an easy pick if you are curious about monjayaki or looking for a lunch date spot in Mullae.

Mullae-dong is famous these days for its hip food spots. I'd been meaning to go for ages, so I finally took a half-day off work and headed out on a Mullae-dong outing. Let me share my fresh-off-the-visit review of the monjayaki spot Jojo Mullae Branch, where I had a really delicious lunch on that trip!
What is Jojo Mullae Branch? A 5-minute walk from Mullae Station Exit 1
Jojo is a Japanese-style teppan restaurant selling okonomiyaki, monjayaki, yakisoba and more. There are several branches around, but I went to the recently opened, buzzing Jojo Mullae Branch.
Jojo Mullae Branch is close, about a 5-minute walk from Mullae Station Exit 1. If you're driving, there's no lot at the restaurant itself, so use the Mullae Neighborhood Park public parking lot, a 1-minute walk away.

⏰ Hours: Mon–Sun 11:30–22:00
I visited a bit after the lunch rush, and since there's no break time, it was convenient to drop in.

Inside Jojo Mullae Branch: the room and the wait
Once inside, the space turned out to be quite spacious. Even past the lunch hour there were plenty of customers. During peak mealtimes or weekends there can be a wait, so I'd recommend booking via Naver Reservation or joining the remote line through Table Ring before you go.

High ceilings and a bright feel kept me in a good mood the whole meal. It used to be a steel workshop, apparently, and traces of that history are still visible on the ceiling, which gave it a curious atmosphere.

What comes with the 39,500-won monjachaki 2-person set?
This is a photo of the menu board out front — you order via the tablet at your table. The main menu includes okonomiyaki, yakisoba, monjayaki and fried rice, and popular sides were donpeyaki, a Japanese-style pork belly omelet, and waterfall potato. I remembered eating a delicious donpeyaki once in Tsushima, so I was already drooling~~ slurp slurp!!😎
I ordered the 'monjachaki 2-person set,' which comes with mentaiko monjayaki + yakisoba + waterfall potato for ₩39,500. You can pick from Jojo yakisoba, karai yakisoba, or shio yakisoba — we went with karai (the spicy option) and added shrimp. You can also add toppings like shrimp, bean sprouts, flying fish roe mayo, and green onion to the yakisoba, for reference. Plus one Jojo highball, new order in!
Each table comes set with its own teppan griddle, timer, and this cute little spatula for the monjayaki.
The Jojo highball. Quite sweet — with the weather so hot, I took a cool sip first.

Mentaiko monjayaki: the staff teppan performance and the 5-minute timer
The mentaiko monjayaki came out first. It was my first time with monjayaki, so the look of it was totally unfamiliar 😲 Monjayaki is a Japanese dish made from a runny flour batter with vegetables, seafood and cheese, cooked until it crisps onto the griddle — a dish mainly enjoyed in Japan's Kanto region, I'm told.

At Jojo Mullae Branch you also get to watch the staff's teppan performance. It was my first time seeing it, so I just stared, completely absorbed haha.

They stir-fry cabbage on the oiled griddle, add toppings like mentaiko (marinated cod roe) and bonito flakes, then pour in the remaining runny batter and mix it all together.

Once everything's well mixed, they spread it thin across the whole griddle,

then scatter mochi and cheese evenly on top and it's done! The staff sets a 5-minute timer before leaving, and once it goes off, it's time to dig in.

Here's how it looked after the 5-minute timer went off — honestly the most unusual-looking dish I've ever seen haha.

Scraping off the crisped-up monjayaki with the little spatula and eating it was both fun and delicious — a genuinely enjoyable experience.
Because of the mentaiko, bonito flakes and cheese, it's on the salty side, which makes it a great match for beer, and I had it with soju, which paired perfectly too. 😋 Jojo Mullae Branch is a great spot for a drink in Mullae Art Village.

Waterfall potato: how it pairs with the mentaiko monjayaki
Right around the time the monjayaki was cooked just right, the waterfall potato arrived.

Crispy onion flakes line the bottom, with mashed potato topped by a poached egg yolk cascading down like a waterfall — eggs and potatoes are just an unbeatable combo! It tastes more like potato salad than mashed potato, and it pairs really well with the salty mentaiko monjayaki.

Karai yakisoba with shrimp added: how it tasted
Next up, the karai yakisoba.

Looked delicious just from the visual haha.

I love yakisoba. It's something I crave every so often, and it had been a while since I ran into really good yakisoba like this at Jojo Mullae Branch. A big soft-boiled egg, and shrimp so plump it seemed touched with smoky char from a delicious sauce. I'd added the shrimp extra, but it seemed like shrimp was already part of the base too. The shrimp is so, so good — add it two, three times over 😍

Besides shrimp, there's a variety of toppings like meat and squid, and lightly seasoned stir-fried cabbage plus what they say are fresh, house-made yakisoba noodles — chewy, soft, and really delicious. Eating a bit of the ginger served on the side or sipping some soju now and then keeps the richness from feeling too heavy!🤩
Is Jojo Mullae Branch good for a lunch date in Mullae?
After a long time, I enjoyed a comfortable, delicious lunch date at the Mullae-dong favorite Jojo Mullae Branch. Whenever you're curious about monjayaki, looking for a good spot in Mullae Art Village, or want a lunch or date place in Mullae, I'd recommend Jojo Mullae Branch again and again. Next time, I definitely need to come back for the okonomiyaki, which I love.
