A tasty shabu kalguksu spot in Mullae-dong, Yeongdeungpo — my first time in this neighborhood, and I had a great time at Palmi Jogae Kalguksu, a Korean restaurant where you cook clams, meat and vegetables shabu-shabu style haha.

Where is Palmi Jogae Kalguksu, and how far is it from Mullae Station?
Palmi Jogae Kalguksu is a 5-minute walk from Munnae Station Exit 1, past Mullae Park.
There's a tank at the entrance so you can see the fresh seafood being kept.

On August 14, Mallbok (the last of Korea's three hottest summer days), they were taking reservations for a chicken-and-clam shabu special.

Photos of the food are posted right at the store entrance so you can check them out.

Hanok-style dining room and the private room for groups
The interior was surprisingly different from the outside — a gorgeous hanok (traditional Korean house) feel that I really didn't expect haha.

It felt like a fancy hanjeongsik (Korean set-course) restaurant, which was a nice surprise at this Mullae-dong Korean restaurant.
There's also a space that can be used almost like a private room, which looks great for group gatherings.

The upscale interior really stood out at this Munnae Station Korean restaurant.
Palmi means "eight flavors," and it's a restaurant specializing in clam shabu kalguksu with fresh seafood.
You can enjoy a meal with seasonal ingredients at Palmi Jogae Shabu Kalguksu, a Mullae-dong favorite.
Cold barley tea comes as a default, and various seasonings on the table are free to use.

There's a notice explaining how to enjoy the clam shabu kalguksu best. If you join their Naver receipt review event, they'll give you a free bottle of soju or beef belly and bean sprout stir-fry — definitely worth doing!!

Palmi Jogae Kalguksu menu and what comes in the set
The menu at this Munnae Station restaurant is on a tablet. You can order a set with shabu kalguksu as the main, along with steamed conch, spicy sea squirt salad, and whole braised bullet squid — nice!

You can also order various seafood separately, making Palmi Shabu Kalguksu a good choice for a Mullae-dong work dinner.

Fun fact: if you order the clam shabu kalguksu for dinner, kalguksu noodles and abalone intestine porridge come included!
Palmi Jogae Kalguksu also has branded t-shirts lol — but is oyster actually the main ingredient here?! hahaha
I ordered a drink and they gave it to me in a pretty glass, which was a nice touch.
Soy sauce and vinegar-chili sauce are set out, along with a side of geotjeori (fresh cabbage kimchi).
The kalguksu noodles come in a container lol.
Individually wrapped utensil sets come from a drawer beside the table.

What's in the octagonal clam shabu pot?
The clam shabu kalguksu at this Munnae Station restaurant comes served in an octagonal pot.

With so many ingredients all in one place, it's easy to eat shabu-shabu style.
- Beef brisket and beef belly for the meat
- Fresh abalone and clam
- Scallop and mussel for seafood too
- Mushroom and cabbage as well!
The order to cook and eat the clam shabu
First, once the broth boils, you add the mussels.
The abalone was so fresh...!! haha
Eat the mussels you put in first, then add the scallops and clams to the shabu pot.
Then toss in the vegetables and beef and enjoy the shabu-shabu!!
Eat the well-cooked clams too lol.
Dip both the mussels and clams lightly in soy sauce before eating!

The oyster mushrooms were nice and chewy haha, and the abalone was soft and tasty too.

The beef brisket had a great nutty flavor!

Shabu-shabu, where you enjoy meat and vegetables together, is honestly my favorite dining-out meal!

While waiting for the kalguksu noodles to cook, I sipped some zero-sugar cola poured into the pretty glass lol.
Finishing with kalguksu and abalone intestine porridge
The noodles were nice and chewy!
Before making the abalone porridge, the staff ladle out some of the broth into a container.
The nutty abalone intestine (geu) is added to the porridge, and the fragrant aroma while it cooks was really appealing.
Finished off with abalone porridge that gets nuttier the more you chew — a Mullae-dong favorite where you can enjoy shabu kalguksu with fresh seafood. Next time I'll come back for the set menu to try even more seafood!
