Hola Poke Seolleung Branch is a poke restaurant on the 2nd floor of a building near Exit 2 of Seolleung Station in Gangnam, Seoul. For a solo lunch, the writer ordered a seafood poke with extra steak, poured wasabi mayo over one half and sriracha mayo over the other to compare, then added sesame and yuzu dressings from the self-serve bar and finished a bowl generous with scallops, octopus and shrimp. For a light but filling office lunch in Seolleung, the seafood poke and sauce combination at Hola Poke Seolleung Branch is well worth recommending.

Euljiro ramen shop lunch before the gym: motsu, horumon-don, Mentsuru

Mentsuru Euljiro Branch is a Japanese-style ramen shop in Jung-gu, Seoul, between Euljiro 3-ga Station and Chungmuro Station. Before the gym, the writer had a quick lunch of motsu ramen (beef intestine ramen) with a modest amount of mildly spicy broth and noodles cooked just right, plus horumon-don, a salty-sweet rice bowl of beef large intestine and thin-sliced beef brisket with wasabi and raw egg. If you like beef intestines, ordering the motsu ramen and horumon-don together at Mentsuru Euljiro Branch is worth it.

Sadang Station pub: beef sashimi and salmon combo at Sadang Gwanganri

Sadang Gwanganri Sadang Main Branch is a retro, pocha-style (Korean street pub) sashimi bar near Sadang Station in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, serving aged sashimi and seafood. The writer ordered the yukban-yeonban, a half-and-half platter of beef sashimi (yuksashimi) and salmon, eaten with perilla leaves, garlic, seaweed sheets, chojang (sweet chili vinegar sauce) and seasoned seaweed salad; the beef sashimi was soft and nutty, and the salmon was thick and glossy. For easygoing drinks over sashimi or a group dinner near Sadang Station, the yukban-yeonban at Sadang Gwanganri Sadang Main Branch is a fitting choice.
