Euljiro ramen shop lunch before the gym: motsu, horumon-don, Mentsuru
In short
Mentsuru Euljiro Branch is a Japanese-style ramen shop in Jung-gu, Seoul, between Euljiro 3-ga Station and Chungmuro Station. Before the gym, the writer had a quick lunch of motsu ramen (beef intestine ramen) with a modest amount of mildly spicy broth and noodles cooked just right, plus horumon-don, a salty-sweet rice bowl of beef large intestine and thin-sliced beef brisket with wasabi and raw egg. If you like beef intestines, ordering the motsu ramen and horumon-don together at Mentsuru Euljiro Branch is worth it.

I'm back in Euljiro for the first time in a while! I wanted a quick lunch before heading to the gym, so I went looking for a ramen shop, and I heard about a place that serves motsu ramen (beef intestine ramen). I can't resist grilled offal!! Okay, let me introduce it right away!!
Where is Mentsuru Euljiro Branch?
Mentsuru Euljiro Branch (멘츠루 을지로점) is a ramen shop on Mareunnae-ro 2-gil, between Euljiro 3-ga Station and Chungmuro Station! You can tell it's a ramen shop just by looking at the outside, right?! It reminds me of Ichiran.

Euljiro has so many great restaurants, right? I wonder if this one is a real winner too... let's go in.

Seating at Mentsuru Euljiro Branch: is it good for dining solo?
Inside Mentsuru Euljiro Branch there are counter seats and regular seats! The counter seats make it great for eating alone. The reason I like Japanese restaurants is that they're good for solo dining. There are lots of light dishes, so it's also perfect for couples on a date!

What did I order at Mentsuru Euljiro Branch?
The menu at Mentsuru Euljiro Branch is simple~~ The recommended motsu ramen is a must, and I agonized a lot between the rice bowls and the soba, but as an offal person, I went with the horumon-don.

You order at the kiosk, then take a seat. Such a cozy spot~~

At the seat there's pickled radish and pepper, which is a ramen essential. Whole peppercorns, yes please.

Mentsuru Euljiro Branch has an open kitchen, so you can see all the cooking, which I loved! So clean!!

The pickled radish at Mentsuru Euljiro Branch is yuzu pickled radish, no less. So delicious.

How does the motsu ramen (beef intestine ramen) at Mentsuru Euljiro Branch taste?
The motsu ramen is packed with beef intestine, and there's beef brisket in it too. The ramen and the horumon-don came out!!! The aroma is insane~~~ I want to eat right now. Can you see how the ramen looks?!

Fundamentally, when ramen arrives you have to start with the broth~~ The motsu ramen at Mentsuru Euljiro Branch has a short broth rather than lots of soup!!!

The broth is slightly spicy and rich ㅠㅠㅠ totally my style. That oily flavor motsu is known for!!!

The noodle doneness was great too. As someone who absolutely hates mushy noodles, this was just right~~

With the offal too, yum~ The motsu ramen is a satisfied yes for now.
What kind of rice bowl is the horumon-don at Mentsuru Euljiro Branch?
The horumon-don is a rice bowl topped with chewy, nutty daechang (beef large intestine), and it goes well alongside the ramen!!! The look is amazing ㅡㅡ look at the amount of intestine and beef brisket. Insane.

The nutty richness of horumon (offal) is its charm, you know.

The horumon-don at Mentsuru Euljiro Branch comes with beef brisket, horumon, and of course the must-have wasabi and raw egg~ It was a generous portion.

One bite of the horumon-don: a salty flavor spreads, there's a little sweetness too, and with the rice it tastes just like what I had in Japan!

Green wasabi plus horumon, can't resist that combo. Mixing and matching like this, I polished off the whole bowl. You get everything from the chewy texture of the daechang to the deep savory seasoning, so if you like daechang, I think you should order the horumon-don too~~ Cleaned the plate again today!
Are the motsu ramen and horumon-don worth ordering together at Mentsuru Euljiro Branch?
From the motsu ramen with its rich, nutty broth to the horumon-don, where chewy offal and salty seasoning work so well together! Each dish has its own charm, so they're nice to enjoy together~~ It climbs into the top ranks of my food tour (Baetori's food tour)~~
I came out of Exit 10 and walked over, and it wasn't far at all, so it's a nice spot to stroll to!!
