How did we end up at Taco Dot in Mangwon-dong?

Taco Dot is a taco place in Mangwon-dong that we stepped into while out for a weekend wander around Mangwon and Hapjeong Station. Tacos are something my husband and I eat regularly, and after watching a Mexican taco YouTube video we were craving them... and we fell for Taco Dot, which looks super hip and already has a line at opening.

What are Taco Dot's hours and parking?

Taco Dot is open 11:30–22:00 on weekdays (break time 15:00–17:00) and 11:30–21:00 on weekends (break time 16:00–17:00). Groups, takeout and reservations are available.

There is no parking at Taco Dot, so you need to use a nearby public lot. We used the Mangwon 1-2 public parking lot, and at ₩300 per 5 minutes it's really cheap.

Taco Dot is a 5-minute walk from Mangwon Station Exit 2. The flashy, hip exterior makes it easy to find. A taco-shaped neon sign greets you, and it reads "No taco, No life, I love taco."

Is there a wait at Taco Dot at opening time?

At weekend opening, Taco Dot was full the moment it opened. We had a Naver reservation for 11:30 and arrived at 11:20, and there were already 3 groups lined up ahead of us. Maybe it's because this is such a buzzy, well-known taco place in Mangwon-dong, but every seat was taken as soon as the doors opened.

You can join the waitlist at Taco Dot through Catch Table, and there is a Catch Table registration machine in front of the restaurant. If you hate waiting, I recommend a Naver reservation.

What is the seating like at Taco Dot?

Inside Taco Dot there is a variety of seating: 2-person tables, 4-person tables and solo seats. The inside is as hip as the outside. The place is on the small side, but since tacos are quick food, I don't think you'd wait long even if there's a line.

How do you order at Taco Dot, and what's on the menu?

Every table at Taco Dot has a menu, so you grab a seat, decide what you want, and then order at the kiosk in front of the counter.

The Taco Dot menu is varied: tacos, fajita platters, enchiladas, taco rice, chimichangas and more. If you write a Naver receipt review, they give you a drink for 1 review and chili cheese fries for 2 reviews.

Self bar and drinks

At Taco Dot you help yourself at the self bar to plates, knives, forks, wet wipes and water, so just grab what you need. There are also two kinds of Tabasco, red and green.

Since we went right at opening, all the orders went in at once, so the food took a little while. We killed the time taking photos, haha.

The cola we ordered was brought out right before the food. I liked that even with just one drink, they gave us ice cups for each person.

How did the 3 tacos at Taco Dot taste?

The 3 types of tacos came out first at Taco Dot: the fried fish taco (fish taco), the pulled pork taco and the Nashville hot chicken taco.

Fish taco: our favorite dish at Taco Dot

The Taco Dot fish taco is made with fried fish and tartar sauce. It was my first time trying a taco with fish in it, and it was delicious. It was our favorite dish at Taco Dot.

Mild fried fish, crispy outside and moist inside, with fresh tartar sauce, what a combo... fish taco is so good, so good, it's just so good!

Nashville hot chicken taco: big enough that two will fill you up

The Taco Dot Nashville hot chicken taco is made with chicken tenders tossed in hot oil, topped with fresh vegetables, homemade chipotle mayo and coleslaw.

Compared with other taco places, Taco Dot's tacos are really big, so even just 2 tacos will fill you up. Taco Dot is a top value taco spot on Mangridan-gil.

Pulled pork taco: a familiar but tasty combo

The Taco Dot pulled pork taco is made with carefully selected pork, tenderly shredded.

It's tender meat shredded along the grain paired with smoky barbecue sauce. Even the familiar-tasting pulled pork taco was good.

What is the pulled pork chimichanga at Taco Dot?

The Taco Dot pulled pork chimichanga (₩17,900) is a burrito filled with pulled pork, deep-fried and eaten with the sauce poured over the top.

We went back and forth between this and the enchilada before choosing the chimichanga. The difference between an enchilada and a chimichanga, I'm told, is whether the burrito is baked or fried.

When you cut into the crispy burrito, it's packed with pulled pork, cheese and rice. Unlike the pulled pork taco, its charm is a hearty, rich flavor.

Is Taco Dot in Mangwon-dong worth going back to?

Taco Dot is a tasty taco spot in Mangwon-dong with big tacos at low prices, so the value is superb. If I'm craving tacos in Mangwon-dong, I'll definitely go back!
