Baegot Korean BBQ: pork skirt, meljeot and slushy beer at Hamdon
In short
Hamdon Baegot (함돈 배곧직영점) is an aged-pork Korean BBQ restaurant in Baegot, Siheung, Gyeonggi, where staff pre-grill the meat for you. On a weekday family dinner with the kids, the writer ordered the Snowflake Special (snowflake cut, pork skirt, special pork neck, five-layer pork belly and pork skin) and also had complimentary bone soup, minari served as a standard side, slushy-ice beer and bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles). Verdict: thanks to its tender aged pork and generous extras, Hamdon Baegot is an easy recommendation for anyone looking for a pork BBQ spot in Baegot.

I was looking for a place for a family meal out and went to Hamdon, which has a reputation in Baegot as a great pork spot!
Hamdon Baegot: location, hours and parking
Hamdon Baegot is at 7 Seouldaehak-ro 264beon-gil, 1F Building B Unit 140, Siheung-si, Gyeonggi-do, and it's open every day from 11:30 to 23:00. You can park in the building.

It's in the middle of Baegot's main commercial area, so it's easy to get to and parking is convenient~ You could feel that special meat-restaurant anticipation right from the front of the shop.

The name Hamdon and tank-aged pork
They say "Hamdon" has two meanings: "falling for meat" and "pork from Hamdeok in Jeju." Maybe that's why a dol hareubang (Jeju stone grandfather statue) greets you at the entrance, haha.
Hamdon's biggest draw is that its pork is aged! The owner reportedly researched an aquarium-tank aging method to make better pork neck. The aging is said to deepen the flavor and lock in the juices, giving a softer, richer taste. Can't wait!

Hamdon Baegot waiting: how was a weekday evening?
We went on a weekday evening and didn't have to wait, but they say weekends are popular and there's a wait. You can conveniently reserve and join the waitlist through Catch Table!!

Interior atmosphere and staff service
Walk in and the whole place feels pleasant and tidy. Clean interiors and soft lighting make it easy to chat with whoever you're with! Families, office workers, friend get-togethers, all ages seem like they'd feel comfortable here.
The friendly staff were as impressive as the tasty meat. They looked after us attentively throughout, so we had a really pleasant meal.

What we ordered at Hamdon, and the lunch special
What we ordered at Hamdon was the Hamdon Snowflake Special.

The lunch special is nicely put together too! (Weekdays and weekends until 3 p.m.) For a reasonable price you get meat, stew and even pot rice.

Write a Naver receipt review and you get ₩2,000 off per person (stackable too)! Definitely take part and get the discount!! It's the first time I've seen a place that discounts in cash amounts.
Side dishes, complimentary bone soup, and is it okay for kids?
Hamdon's basic side dishes, like white kimchi, scallion kimchi and pickles (jangajji), go well with meat and come out neat and tidy.

This is complimentary?? The quality of the freebies is astonishing. Bone soup (gomtang) simmered softly for ages with pork bones, and it's free! It was one of the dishes the kids ate the most!! At most BBQ places the stews are all spicy and hard for kids, but here we could feed them meat and broth properly!
The bones had lots of meat on them, and there were two big ones! You boil it on an induction burner as you eat, so it stayed hot the whole time. Honestly tastier than most gomtang restaurants, ㅠㅠ

And Hamdon gives you minari (water dropwort) by default!! Wait, what, you're impressing us twice. At other BBQ places you have to pay extra for minari and that always bugged me, so there's a reason everyone's talking about Hamdon!

Hamdon Snowflake Special: does the staff grill for you?
The Hamdon Snowflake Special comes with snowflake cut, skirt steak (salchi-sal), pork neck, pork belly and pork skin, and the staff do the first grilling themselves. Once it's cooked partway, we grill it to our liking from there!
Seeing the juices run, my mouth was watering.
Snowflake cut with wasabi and salt, skirt with jeotgal
The staff cook the snowflake cut and skirt steak first and hand them over! The snowflake cut is a fatty cut, so dip it in wasabi and salt, and the skirt steak is said to taste best dipped in meljeot (salted fermented shrimp).

When it comes to food, I do listen well. A dab of meljeot, a dab of wasabi! One bite and my eyes went wide, it was so good!! So tender, it melts in your mouth ㅠㅠ For a second I wondered if I was eating Korean beef skirt steak, haha.
Hamdon even serves slushy-ice beer
Eating meat without a drink would be a shame. Wow, Hamdon even serves slushy-ice beer ㅠㅠ How long do I have to keep marveling while I eat? From the first glass to the last, the chill lasted, so I was happy the whole meal! The heat just disappears~~
With scallion kimchi and minari, and thick pork skin
I ate it with scallion kimchi, and with minari too, and loved having so many ways to enjoy it. The more I chewed, the more savory juices came out, so I could really feel the charm of aged meat!!
For the thick pork skin, they gave us a special seasoned sauce and told us to dip it. I worried it would be tough, but the texture was really tender with a pleasant springiness that's addictive.

The kids sang about how good it was and cleared a bowl in no time!!
Finishing with Hamdon's bibim naengmyeon
At Hamdon we ordered bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles) instead of rice!

Cold noodles after meat is a must-have course. I prefer the spicy mixed kind over the broth kind, haha. The bright red sauce whetted my appetite just by looking at it ㅠㅠ The seasoning isn't harsh, it's sweet and tangy, a really good way to finish. Even stuffed, our chopsticks wouldn't stop! Another satisfying meal done!

Is Hamdon Baegot worth going back to?
At Hamdon Baegot we really enjoyed the deep flavor and rich juices that are special to aged meat, and the clean shop, friendly staff and generous freebies made the meal pleasant from start to finish. Now I know why it got its reputation!! I only found out after trying it.
Now that we've finally discovered this great place, we're full of regret for not coming sooner, haha. Well, at least we know now!! If you're looking for tasty pork BBQ in Baegot, visit Hamdon Baegot!
