BYOB yakiniku in Gwangalli: free sake corkage and gyoza at Bisyoku

Bisyoku Gwangan Branch is a Japanese-style yakiniku (grilled meat) restaurant in Gwangalli, Suyeong, Busan. On a second visit, the writer brought a bottle of sake for corkage and ordered the Oishi Set 400g (₩99,000), handmade gyoza, kirimochi (rice cake) and a half Asashi Set. Corkage at Bisyoku Gwangan Branch is free when each person orders one drink, making it an easy Gwangalli yakiniku spot to bring your own bottle.

Suyeong seafood pub, Busan: ice-cold somaek after an Oncheoncheon run

Sintongyeong Gul Gukbap (신통영굴국밥) is an oyster, sashimi and seafood pub on Suyeong-ro 725beon-gil in Suyeong, Busan. After a run along Oncheoncheon stream, the writer ordered somaek (soju mixed with beer) and a small mixed sashimi platter for 40,000 won, which came with thick-cut flatfish, milchi (young gray mullet) and rockfish, plus a complimentary spicy fish stew. With very cold somaek from soju and beer kept in a dedicated fridge, Sintongyeong Gul Gukbap is a good Suyeong sashimi spot for a casual post-workout drink.

Yeonsan-dong chicken restaurant after an Oncheoncheon workout: Yetnal

Yetnal Tongdak & Tang Yeonsan Main Branch (옛날통닭앤탕 연산본점) is a restaurant in Yeonsan-dong, Yeonje-gu, Busan, that has served tongdak (old-style whole fried chicken) and dakdoritang (spicy braised chicken stew) from the same spot for 16 years. After a workout along Oncheoncheon Stream on a Sunday evening, the writer ordered the set of one whole dakdoritang plus half a tongdak for 32,000 won. The dakdoritang was spicy rather than sweet and the tongdak was freshly fried and crispy, making Yetnal Tongdak & Tang a good old-school Yeonsan-dong spot for enjoying fried chicken and chicken stew together over a casual drink.

Pork belly in Seomyeon, Busan: free bracken, ₩4,000 kimchi stew, Don J

Don J Busan Seomyeon (돈제이 부산서면점) is a retro-style pork belly pub in Seomyeon, Busan, just behind Lotte Department Store Busan, where staff grill the meat for you on a cauldron lid. The writer ordered the 600g pork neck and pork belly set (₩38,000), the highland kimchi stew (₩4,000) and meat rice, and asked for a free extra portion of the grilled bracken because it was so good. For good-value, staff-grilled pork belly in Seomyeon, Don J Busan Seomyeon is a solid recommendation.
