Seomyeon Korean BBQ with ₩1,890 beer cheaper than cola: 189 Cheolsune
In short
189 Cheolsune Matgimchi Samgyeopsal (189철수네맛김치삼겹살) is a newly opened kimchi pork belly restaurant next to Angel Hotel in Seomyeon, Busan. On a weekend date dinner, the writer grilled thick pork belly with several kinds of kimchi, then had cheese steamed egg, doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) and DIY fried rice; because drinks cost ₩1,890, draft beer was cheaper than cola. 189 Cheolsune is a good pick for a Seomyeon date or group dinner when you want proper pork belly and kimchi without a big drinks bill.

Last weekend my boyfriend and I went on a date in Seomyeon, and we wanted a really good dinner but couldn't decide what to eat. So we tried 189 Cheolsune, the new Seomyeon BBQ place we'd heard about! In these days of sky-high prices, drinks here are an amazing ₩1,890 and the meat was properly good too, so here's my review.

Where is 189 Cheolsune? Right next to Angel Hotel in Seomyeon
189 Cheolsune is in a newly opened building right next to Angel Hotel in Seomyeon. It's easy to reach from Jeonpo too, so it's a convenient spot either way. The flashy signboard and standing signs catch your eye right away~

A Seomyeon BBQ restaurant with ₩1,890 drinks?
Drinks at 189 Cheolsune are ₩1,890, which takes a huge bite out of the usual booze bill in Seomyeon. Pork belly and kimchi can't possibly go wrong, and I'd heard the kimchi comes in lots of varieties and tastes really good, so I was super excited!
And the real jackpot is that the drinks are ₩1,890!! The day before I'd been paying ₩6,000 for soju, so at this price there's zero pressure and I just kept drinking beer, haha

Good for group meals? A roomy interior and a self-service bar
The inside of 189 Cheolsune is spacious, so I think it would be great for group gatherings, haha. Being able to save on drinks alone makes it a very good Seomyeon BBQ place for a group!

If you need more side dishes, just use the self-service bar. Everything was neatly arranged, haha

What's on the menu at 189 Cheolsune? Fresh pork belly and gochujang pork belly
There are two main dishes: fresh pork belly or gochujang pork belly (pork belly in chili paste), haha. They also had a good variety of side dishes, haha.

After we ordered, they brought out a whole spread of side dishes, haha. There was also a sign saying they only use Korean-grown kimchi!
Draft beer cheaper than cola
Cola and draft beer have arrived! Can you believe the cola costs more at 189 Cheolsune? It's a Seomyeon BBQ place with incredible value, haha
How does the kimchi pork belly taste? Thick meat trimmed by the staff
At 189 Cheolsune the staff do all the trimming and cutting of the pork belly for you, haha. I went to the bathroom and the food showed up in the meantime, so sadly I missed the raw-meat photo, but doesn't it look so tempting?>< Thick pork belly with kimchi... can't go wrong T.T

Perfectly cooked and perfectly tasty! It looked absolutely perfect.
Mustard-leaf kimchi (gat-kimchi), regular kimchi, bean sprouts, rice cake and spring onion — nothing was missing from this spread, haha

The meat was really thick with a great chew, haha. You can enjoy it plain and mild, and with the sour, spicy kimchi it's fantastic, haha

With bean sprouts and kimchi, the best. With ssambu (pickled radish wraps), also the best. However you eat it, you really get the rich flavor of the pork belly, haha

Wrap it in lettuce and other leaves however you like and it's heaven~ If you run out, just grab more from the self-service bar any time!
Which sides to get? Cheese egg custard, doenjang stew and self-made fried rice
For sides we had the cheese bomb steamed egg and a spicy doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) bubbling hot in an earthenware pot! The stew went perfectly with the fried rice, haha.
We added self-made fried rice too, haha. With kimchi and meat, how could you not fry up some rice~~ Chop the meat and kimchi into small pieces, mix it all up with the rice, and you've got the K-dessert: fried rice!

Doesn't it look so good? It was a truly perfect finish!!

Would I go back to 189 Cheolsune in Seomyeon?
Who ate it all... From start to finish, 189 Cheolsune Matgimchi Samgyeopsal was just perfect!! I think it has the cheapest drink prices in Seomyeon!! Please go visit before it gets even more popular~
