Is it a good place for a work dinner or group gathering in Jongno, Daegu?
Jangjak Saenggalbi is in Jongno, Daegu, and it runs across the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors, so it looked really good for group gatherings and work dinners 👏 The mood is great for meat and a drink after work, and it also feels easy for a family meal or a visit with friends 🍻

The inside was kept neat, and every table has a ventilation fan, so the smell of grilled meat didn't cling to us much. Soft lighting makes it just right for meat and a drink, and it was nice to sit for a long meal ✨

Jangjak Saenggalbi menu and standard table setting
The menu has a range of fresh galbi: the signature brick-cut fresh galbi, the new Uiseong garlic galbi, and pork fresh galbi. The side dishes all looked delicious too 🤤

When you order, the side dishes arrive neatly arranged on a tray. They're the kind that go well with meat, which I liked 🥬🧄

Steamed egg comes as standard, and it arrived piping hot, which was so nice. It's soft, perfect for a spoonful before the meat 💛

Doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) is also included, and it was packed with tofu. It had that hearty flavor you only get at a Korean BBQ place, and I loved it 😋

Uiseong garlic galbi, 500g: how much garlic marinade do you get?
We ordered the Uiseong garlic galbi, 500g (₩58,000). The staff heaped garlic marinade on the galbi from the start, and as if that weren't enough, they brought a whole extra bowl of it 🧄🧄🧄 A true garlic bomb, just like the name! Garlic lovers will fall for it 😍

Staff pour the garlic marinade over the meat as they grill
At Jangjak Saenggalbi, the staff grilled the Uiseong garlic galbi themselves from start to finish. They piled on the garlic marinade without holding back, then poured the whole bowl over the meat as they grilled it golden brown. It was grilled so well that I got to eat it at its best, which I was really happy about 👏
Watching it sizzle made my mouth water 🤎 With the garlic marinade heaped on golden grilled galbi, it looked so appetizing. This is what garlic galbi is all about ✨

How did the Uiseong garlic galbi taste?
The Uiseong garlic galbi was sweet marinade, rich juicy meat, and the savory depth of garlic all in one. The staff cut it into bite-size pieces one by one, which was so convenient. One bite and the sweet galbi marinade and rich juices spread out, and the garlic brought the savory flavor right up. A sweet taste with a faint garlic aroma lingering in my mouth, so I kept reaching for more 🤤

Cooked meat gets set aside and kept warm, so I never had to worry about grilling and just ate. I think this is why I love places where staff do the grilling. I could focus on the meal, and it was really satisfying 😊

Do they grill the meat on the rib bones too?
At the end, the staff put the rib bones on the grill and browned them. You can't skip the meat clinging to the bone when you eat galbi, right? 😆 So I gnawed off every last bit. The meat on the bone was chewy and tasty 💛
