Magoknaru café for Brazil Chocoberry iced latte: Pict Roastery

I had a little errand in Seoul today, and ended up arriving 1 hour 30 minutes earlier than planned.. When you've got extra time like this, a café is the best 👍 Even if it was just a quick stop, I wanted good coffee, so I visited a café near Magoknaru Station that does its own roasting—! Here's my review of Pict Roastery Magoknaru Branch.

How to find Pict Roastery Magoknaru Branch, and where to park

📍Pict Roastery is a 3-minute walk from Exit 2 of Magoknaru Station. It's also walkable from the Seoul Botanic Park side and from Magok Jungang-ro, so it's easy to get to 👍

🅿️If you're driving like me, you can park at Castapark. I actually went in where the navigation told me to and it was the wrong spot, so I had to come back out ^^;; Make sure to check the building name before you go in haha. Up to 2 hours of parking is supported~!

After parking, take the elevator to the 2nd floor~ Turn left and you can enter through the Officetel A entrance, and Pict Roastery comes into view 👀

Inside Pict Roastery: a quiet café for laptop work

The inside of Pict Roastery is compact, but the front is floor-to-ceiling windows and the side wall is a mirror, so it doesn't feel cramped and looks spacious! Lots of people were working on laptops, so I'd recommend it if you need to work quietly. The black-and-white tone makes for a clean, tidy interior.

It's a compact space, but there's even a roasting machine in there 🫢 Pict Roastery is a specialty roastery café that does everything from green bean roasting to brewing in-house. They also sell their own roasted beans in 200g / 500g / 1kg, which seemed great for home cafés or as gifts!

The menu and choosing your coffee beans

Since this is a place focused on coffee, the menu is coffee-centered and not too long! From nutty chocolatey notes to floral acidity, they say they only use the best beans of the season. I went with the low-acidity Brazil Chocoberry beans. I'll also try the matcha cake with Jesarang 🍀

Since Pict Roastery's lineup changes monthly/quarterly, they say you can enjoy a new coffee flavor every time you visit! Since there's something new every time, I'll have to come back each quarter!!

The black-and-white with a touch of silver looked even prettier! Pict Roastery had a really sleek, tasteful feel to it.

Iced café latte with Brazil Chocoberry beans, 5,500 won

I think I'd driven more than 4 hours that day..! I seriously needed a coffee transfusion 🥲 I normally order my coffee weak, but that day it was just "iced latte, please" — no changing the options lol. Maybe because they roast it themselves, but as I sipped and paid attention, the nutty coffee flavor spread through gently and it was really tasty 👍

Kyoto matcha basque cheesecake, 7,500 won

As a matcha lover, I try matcha cake too 🌿 It's the familiar basque cheesecake with matcha added, and the flavor wasn't too strong!! Matcha can be a love-it-or-hate-it thing, but since it's not overpowering here, I think it's a cake anyone can enjoy! You can feel how dense and fudgy it is, right? Hahaha

I only stopped by for about an hour, but good coffee just puts you in such a good mood ~~☕️ I come to Magok for work about 4 times a year, so I think I'll have fun trying the beans each quarter :) Had a great time here today 🌿
