Japanese restaurant in Jung, Seoul: Furato Shokudo beef cutlet

My husband and I like Japanese food, so we have often gone to Furato Shokudo Seoul Square Direct Store (후라토식당 서울스퀘어 직영점). We recently paid for a visit to the Seoul Square branch ourselves, and this time we visited through sponsorship. In this meal, I cover what came with the gyukatsu set, how the beef tasted, and the atmosphere when we entered with a reservation.

Is it easy to find from Seoul Station?

The restaurant is on the basement first floor of Seoul Square. We got off at the central bus-lane stop at Seoul Station and walked; it felt like about five minutes. The restaurant was visible as soon as we went down to B1, so it was not difficult to find.

What are the seating and interior like?

The restaurant was not very large, but it had a fair number of seats and did not feel stuffy or cramped. I thought it would be fine for a meal after work, too. There was also information stating that it has solo seats and group seating for up to eight people.

There were diners inside, so I could not photograph the entire interior. The open kitchen was visible toward the back, and I personally liked being able to see the cooking area.

Is there a wait in the evening?

We reserved ahead and arrived at around 5:30 PM. There were not many diners at first, but people began waiting after we entered, and the restaurant was full by the time we left. Waits can vary by visit time, so I would recommend making a reservation if you have a time in mind. The reservation channels listed in the original post are Naver Reservation and Catch Table.

A Naver receipt event was also running when we visited. It involved karaage (Japanese fried chicken), but the original post did not include the detailed participation terms.

What are the price, components, and portion of the gyukatsu set?

The gyukatsu set was ₩19,000. It came with gyukatsu (breaded beef cutlet), rice, cabbage salad, miso soup, and more. I especially liked the salad dressing, and it went well with the beef.

For me, there was a generous amount of beef and it was an appropriate meal for one adult. A friend who came with me before said it was too much and left some behind. The furikake seasoning on the rice was also tasty, and I wanted to add a little more.

How did I eat the gyukatsu, and how did it taste?

I grilled the gyukatsu over a small tabletop brazier. The beef was tender, and I did not notice any unpleasant meat smell. The chili and soy sauces were fine, but salt with a little wasabi was the best combination for tasting the beef itself.

My husband also likes the gyukatsu here, so on a previous visit we added another plate of beef. We had paid for several visits ourselves, and the tender beef with salt and wasabi stayed with me this time as well. Still, since a wait formed in the evening, it is worth considering a reservation if you have decided on a visit time.

What are the hours and parking information?

The hours listed in the original post are daily from 11:00 AM to 8:50 PM. There is a break from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and last orders are at 2:30 PM for lunch and 8:20 PM for dinner. The post stated that free parking is available in the building, though we took the bus.
