Danppang Bakery is said to have the longest line in Danyang Gugyeong Market. It's practically neck and neck with the black garlic nurungji (scorched rice) fried chicken shop right across from it... and all of this is the line...... 💦💦

Seriously, those bread bags? Everyone is carrying one, haha. Danppang Bakery, black garlic nurungji chicken, Osung Tongdak (오성통닭), at least one or two of those three are in everybody's hands, haha. At first the line was so long I almost gave up, but with everyone walking around with them, I thought, when will I be back in Danyang? So I joined the line.

Freshly baked garlic bread is displayed in front of the shop. Right there, the staff fill the bread with cream cheese on the spot, and their dazzling skill drew my eyes. Everyone was watching in a daze, haha. The nicely displayed bread and the garlic smell catch the eye of passersby too. Magic!

The baguette garlic bread is my top pick! For someone like me who isn't into sweet things, it was the best item! The baguette is crispy outside and moist inside, full of garlic's sharp yet nutty flavor.

Regular baguettes are thin and can be a bit hard, but the Danppang baguette is plump like a bagel, so you really get that crispy outside and very moist inside. Eat it with the garlic chips on top for a proper nutty flavor!

We bought two packs and put one in the freezer, and even when we ate it a few days later, a light reheat in the air fryer brought back the first-day taste. It's plain and soft, a light flavor that seems perfect with a cup of coffee in the morning.

Sweet potato custard garlic bread: my husband and son's pick

The sweet potato custard garlic bread was the one my husband and son said was the best! The sweetness of sweet potato plus the softness of custard was right on target for people who love sweet things.

The generous custard and the sweet potato pieces tucked in here and there really bring out the sweetness. With sweetness added to garlic bread, I think kids would like it too. Thanks to the custard, it's soft rather than having garlic bread's usual crunch.

I tried it after keeping it in the freezer and letting it thaw slightly, and the cream cheese was like ice cream, which was a treat too.
