Gopchang dinner after Yeongjong Island in Incheon: Yeonsu Gopchang

In short

Yeonsu Gopchang is a gopchang (grilled intestine) and makchang restaurant in Yeonsu-dong, Incheon, near Yeonsu Station; it started in 2017 as Miro Gopchang and later expanded and moved. After a Yeongjong Island trip, a couple had the Yeonsu Mixed Table (2 or more people, ₩39,900) for dinner: fire-seared gopchang stir-fry, grilled makchang and gopchang hot pot, with free sundae, liver and chilled acorn jelly soup, finished with fried rice. Yeonsu Gopchang's Mixed Table is a satisfying one-order way to try gopchang several ways without agonizing over the menu.

A great eat in Yeonsu-dong, Incheon: Yeonsu Gopchang. I was staying on Yeongjong Island and went to the main branch for dinner, and I really enjoyed the mixed table here.

What is Yeonsu Gopchang in Incheon?

The main branch is a gopchang restaurant near Yeonsu Station. I hear it started in 2017 as Miro Gopchang and won over lots of regulars. I stopped by for dinner after a trip to Yeongjong Island in Incheon. It has since expanded and moved under the name Yeonsu Gopchang, so now you can enjoy gopchang in a much bigger, more comfortable space.

Sign for the free same-day boiled liver and sundae at Yeonsu Gopchang

Same-day boiled liver and sundae (Korean blood sausage) come free here. I love gopchang, so I went in with high hopes, and now I see why so many people call this the number one gopchang place in Yeonsu-dong.

What are the atmosphere and seating like at Yeonsu Gopchang?

The space holds up to 48 people, so it looked great for group gatherings. Thanks to the clean interior, it felt more like a comfortable restaurant than a Yeonsu-dong drinking spot. I arrived early, so luckily I could photograph the inside.

Soon the place filled up with family dinners, friend get-togethers and company dinners.

Yeonsu Mixed Table: price and what's included

Among the all-in-one sets at Yeonsu Gopchang, the Yeonsu Mixed Table (2 or more people) is ₩39,900. I didn't want to agonize over what to eat, so I went with this foolproof set. Just like the name says, gopchang stir-fry, grilled makchang, gopchang hot pot and finishing fried rice all arrive on one table, a solid lineup that lets you try lots of things at once.

Free sides: sundae, liver and acorn jelly soup

The free sides were quite satisfying too. Liver, sundae and even acorn jelly soup (mukbap-style, muk sabal) come out, so my mouth was happy before the main dishes even arrived.

Free acorn jelly soup with kimchi and jelly over shaved ice

The acorn jelly soup has ice shaved with a shaved-ice machine laid underneath, then well-ripened kimchi, cucumber, seaweed flakes and bouncy jelly piled generously on top. That's a lot for a free side dish.

The sundae and liver, boiled the same day, also came free. I don't eat liver, so I can't tell you how it tastes, but the sundae was good with no off smell.

How do Yeonsu Gopchang's gopchang stir-fry and grilled makchang taste?

One thing that makes Yeonsu Gopchang special is that it uses fresh gopchang they prep themselves. They say they've been cleaning the pork gopchang and makchang by hand for over 10 years, so there was almost no off smell, and the chewy yet tender texture stood out.

So that even people who struggle with gopchang can enjoy it, the staff cook it for you over a direct-fire wok. Thanks to that, not too much oil is left behind and it was clean to eat.

The richness of gopchang was alive, but the greasiness felt reduced. The stir-fry was spicy with great savory depth, and the grilled makchang got more nutty the more I chewed.

Gopchang hot pot and highballs

The gopchang hot pot that came with the mixed table had a rich, deep broth that seemed like it would pair well with drinks too. No wonder it's famous as a Yeonsu-dong meat spot.

My favorite actor is in the Yeonsu Gopchang ads, haha. They apparently even hand out highball coupons, so it looked like a good place to have a drink.

Is there less smoke and grease at Yeonsu Gopchang?

What I liked most at Yeonsu Gopchang was how clean it was overall. Some people picture gopchang places as smoky and greasy, but here you can worry less about that.

Finishing fried rice served after the gopchang mixed set

How big is the Mixed Table's finishing fried rice?

After the gopchang mixed set, fried rice comes out as a finisher. There are many options like adding cheese, but I just ordered the basic one.

The portion of fried rice was big too, so my husband and I left more than half.

If you can't decide what to order, do like me and get the Yeonsu Gopchang mixed table. You taste lots of dishes at once, so it's very satisfying.

Who should you bring to Yeonsu Gopchang?

The slogan about there being no exit once you fall for it wasn't said for nothing. Tasty gopchang, a generous lineup and friendly service: I was satisfied with all of it at Yeonsu Gopchang.

It would be fine to visit with your parents, and the mood was relaxed enough for a get-together with friends.
