Bibimbap restaurant in Gwacheon: bulgogi and beef tartare sets
In short
Bibisam Gwacheon Main Branch is a bibimbap restaurant about a two-minute walk from Exit 11 of Government Complex Gwacheon Station. My husband and I ordered the bulgogi bibimbap set and Korean beef tartare bibimbap set with Korean beef tteokgalbi; the crunchy namul and tender tteokgalbi stood out, and the two- and four-person tables looked suitable for a solo lunch.

My husband and I had bibimbap for lunch at Bibisam Gwacheon Main Branch near Government Complex Gwacheon Station. We ordered the bulgogi bibimbap and Korean beef tartare bibimbap as sets, choosing Korean beef tteokgalbi for both.

How close is it to Government Complex Gwacheon Station?
It is about a two-minute walk from Exit 11 of Government Complex Gwacheon Station. The address is 101, 1F, 10-13 Saesulmak-gil, Gwacheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, and the exterior looked neat even from a distance.
The hours posted at the time of my visit were 11 AM to 10 PM daily. Parking information directed visitors to a nearby public parking lot.
Is it suitable for a solo lunch?
There were about 10 tables inside, divided between two- and four-person seating. Since the setting suited having one bibimbap dish per person, it looked fine for a solo lunch too.
How do ordering and the self-service bar work?
After ordering at the kiosk, you can pick up side dishes and miso soup from the self-service bar. Sesame oil, scissors, and tongs were also available to take as needed.
The restaurant posted that it does not reuse food. I also looked over the information on ingredient origins.
What bibimbap options and set meals are available?
The menu is divided into individual dishes and sets, with bibimbap and tteokgalbi included in the sets. Bibimbap choices included Korean beef tartare, namul (seasoned vegetables), octopus, and bulgogi.
There were also dolsot albap (stone-pot rice with fish roe) and dolsot nakji albap (stone-pot rice with octopus and fish roe). Side orders included Korean beef tartare, Korean beef tteokgalbi, and Korean pork tteokgalbi.
There was a usage notice next to the kiosk. I ordered the bulgogi bibimbap set, while my husband ordered the Korean beef tartare bibimbap set.
How were the seasoning and texture of the bulgogi bibimbap?
The bulgogi bibimbap came in a stone pot with seasoned rice, seven kinds of namul, and seasoned bulgogi. I chose Korean beef tteokgalbi as the set accompaniment.
I was told that the dishes are low-sodium by default, and that I could ask for more gochujang if needed. Once mixed, the different namul had a pleasant bite, and I could taste the savory depth of the bulgogi seasoning.
How should you eat the Korean beef tartare bibimbap?
My husband's Korean beef tartare bibimbap set also came with Korean beef tteokgalbi. It seemed to have a generous amount of tartare.
The notice said not to mix in the beef tartare; instead, mix only the bibimbap, then add a little tartare at a time. We saw the notice too late and mixed everything together, but it was still tasty that way.
Even after mixing, there was enough tartare that it remained visible throughout. I was satisfied with the fresh taste of the Korean beef tartare.
Did the white kimchi and Korean beef tteokgalbi go well with bibimbap?
The standard kimchi was white kimchi. It paired well with the bibimbap.
The Korean beef tteokgalbi we chose for the sets was tender and well seasoned. It arrived nicely grilled and went well with the bibimbap, making it one of the memorable accompaniments to both dishes.
