Jamsil Korean pub, a kimchi-only round two at the bar: Jojomomo
In short
Jojomomo (조조모모) is a basement Korean pub in the Bangi-dong food alley between Jamsil Station and Mongchontoseong Station in Songpa, Seoul. After a barbecue dinner, the writer stopped by Jojomomo for round two on a fully booked weekday evening and sat at the bar. The order was a 1-liter nurungji dongdongju (scorched-rice rice wine), spicy bulgogi kimchi jeon and a tuna aged-kimchi roll. Ordering two kimchi dishes was an accident, but the quality of the anju (drinking food) at Jojomomo made both a great match for the dongdongju.

Where is Jojomomo, and what's the atmosphere like?
Jojomomo (조조모모) is a Korean pub in Jamsil that's great for tasty anju and traditional liquor. The food is really good and the mood is great too, so I could see why the Bangi-dong food alley spot is always full of people haha.

Jojomomo, a Jamsil pub with a great atmosphere, sits right on the main stretch of the Bangi-dong food alley between Jamsil Station and Mongchontoseong Station.

Head down to the basement level and you reach Jojomomo, the Bangi-dong food alley pub.

There was a cool beer poster inside, so I took a photo haha
Can you get a seat at Jojomomo on a weekday evening?
The place seats about 30 people, and even on a weekday evening it was already full, so there were no table seats and we sat at the bar. A full house on a weekday evening!!! And think how many pubs there are in the Bangi-dong food alley?!?! That shows how popular Jojomomo is in Jamsil.

Jojomomo menu and traditional Korean liquor lineup
Jojomomo's signature dish is pork rib suyuk (boiled pork), but we'd had meat for the first round and came here for round two, so we decided to try other things. The reason Jojomomo is so popular is that the anju quality is far higher than at other pubs! Many dishes work like a proper meal rather than just bar snacks, which I think is why people keep coming.

This Bangi-dong Korean pub has a really wide range of traditional liquors, so you can pick one to suit your taste. There's a whole lineup of traditional distilled spirits I'd never seen before! haha
The big speaker you can see from the bar seats. It isn't deafeningly loud, though, so at first I didn't realize it was a speaker and thought it was just decoration haha
If you join the Naver receipt review event, you get a free bottle of soju or beer, so be sure to take part!!

Complimentary anju and welcome drink at Jojomomo
At Jojomomo, truffle potato salad and crackers come as the basic anju! Plus a welcome drink, Jirisan Gangsoeju, in a size that's perfect for downing in one gulp, right?! hahaha
Ta-da, Jirisan Gangsoeju yakju (refined rice wine)! haha It has a moderate sweetness, just right as a welcome drink.

Nurungji dongdongju (scorched-rice rice wine), 1 liter
Our main drink was Jojomomo's signature nurungji dongdongju (scorched-rice rice wine), 1 liter haha Nutty and sweet, made with Jojomomo's own secret recipe, and it went well with every kind of anju, which I loved.

What does the spicy bulgogi kimchi jeon taste like?
Jojomomo's spicy bulgogi kimchi jeon is a kimchi pancake topped with aged meat in a handmade spicy soy sauce. Here comes the spicy bulgogi kimchi jeon we ordered at this Jamsil Korean pub!

Look at how much meat is piled on top of the kimchi jeon?!?! hahaha

A kimchi jeon fried crisp in oil, with a heap of meat topping on top. How could it not be good?!?! haha

It went great with the cold nurungji dongdongju, so we ate and drank happily at Jojomomo, the Bangi-dong pub.

A kimchi jeon with this generous a meat topping, I love it! A moderate spiciness on top made it a really good match for dongdongju.
It's even better because it's so punchy. Yes, absolutely haha

Tuna aged-kimchi roll as a side dish
Kimchi jeon alone felt a little lacking, so we ordered the tuna aged-kimchi roll as a side at Jojomomo. Somehow we ended up ordering both red kimchi and white kimchi?! hahaha I wasn't thinking at all when ordering, and once the dishes arrived I was like, wait, both of these have kimchi in them? lol

Tuna mayo with aged kimchi, how could that not be good!!!!

Finishing with corn ice cream and mouthwash
At the end, Jojomomo cleans up your palate with sweet, nutty corn ice cream haha
And on the way out they hand you mouthwash, such a thoughtful touch! I had a great time at Jojomomo, a Bangi-dong favorite.
