Where is Hwieol Migeum Branch, and where can you park?

Hwieol Migeum Branch is in the food alley near Exit 4 of Migeum Station in Bundang. There's room for 1–2 cars in front of the shop, and if that's full you can use the paid Geumgok-dong public parking lot, a 5-minute drive away.

This is the exterior of Hwieol Migeum Branch. The orange sign stands out from far away, so it's easy to find. As I mentioned, you can see the parking spots right in front of the shop.

Is the seating at Hwieol Migeum Branch good for a date?

Tables with partitions inside Hwieol Migeum Branch

Inside, there are lots of tables for 2 to 4 people, which looked great for small get-togethers, and every seat has a partition, so you can chat comfortably with your group.

I booked through Naver and they showed us to the window seat in the photo above. The tables are spaced widely and it feels private, so the mood was so good for a date or a blind date.

This is the menu of Hwieol, the Migeum Station pub. Hot pots, jeon (savory pancakes), sukhoe (blanched seafood), stir-fries, fried dishes, grilled dishes, fruit and more: the range is really wide. Restaurants with huge menus are often disappointing in taste or quality, but everything I've eaten at Hwieol was delicious.

Hwieol Migeum Branch drinks menu

With such a varied menu, the drinks are just as varied. Highballs, champagne, soju, beer, makgeolli (rice wine), plum wine, fruit wine, Hwayo, Iltumjinro, sake and more, so you can pair them to your taste.

Free snack: refillable shrimp chips

Shrimp roe chips come as the complimentary snack, and they're salty and addictive, so I kept reaching for more. You can get refills on the tablet, too.

What we ordered at Hwieol and how much it cost

Hwieol table with the squid stir-fry and yuringi we ordered
  • Squid stir-fry ₩23,000
  • Yuringi ₩23,000
  • Cider ₩2,000
  • Narangd Cider Zero ₩2,000
  • Total ₩50,000

How does Hwieol's spicy squid stir-fry taste?

Hwieol squid stir-fry on an iron plate with bean sprouts and minari

Hwieol's squid stir-fry arrives on a hot iron plate with the sauce sizzling and bubbling. It comes topped with seasoned bean sprouts and minari (water dropwort) to eat alongside, and the bright red sauce looked so appetizing.

Plump squid in Hwieol's squid stir-fry

The squid was quite plump and meaty, and above all the sauce is insane.. It clings to your mouth and is addictive, and just as I was thinking I wanted to mix rice into it, my boyfriend said the exact same thing. A total rice thief..!

Is Hwieol's yuringi worth ordering again?

A plate of yuringi at Hwieol Migeum Branch

Next is the yuringi. I loved it so much last time that I ordered it again this time! Sure enough, it looked just like last time and the crunch was on another level.

Hwieol yuringi sauce served on the side

The yuringi sauce comes on the side like this, so you can choose between dipping and pouring, which dip fans will love!! There's plenty, more than enough to dunk generously.

The batter is so crispy you'd want to make an ASMR video of it, and the chicken inside is super juicy and tender. The combo with the sweet-and-sour sauce is great too!

Why the fried onions and squid stir-fry work together

And the onion fritters hidden under the fried chicken are another treat! They're sweet and tasty on their own, and eating them with the spicy squid stir-fry was such a good combo :) If you're struggling to pick a snack combo, I recommend squid stir-fry + yuringi!

Salad served with the yuringi

There's even a salad that comes with the yuringi! I ordered just one dish, but got fried chicken, onion fritters and a salad all together, which makes it a great-value menu item.

How much are soft drinks at Hwieol Migeum Branch?

Cider in a highball glass full of ice
Cider Zero paired with the meal at Hwieol Migeum Branch

This time I paired the food with soda :) These days most restaurants charge ₩2,500 or ₩3,000 for soda, but Hwieol still sells it for ₩2,000, so overall the drink and alcohol prices felt really kind. They also filled the highball glass with ice, so it was nice and cold. Besides Coke Zero they had Cider Zero too, so I tried it and it was so good!

Final verdict on Hwieol Migeum Branch for a date night

The snacks are tasty and the staff are friendly, so Hwieol Migeum Branch is a place I visit often. If you have a blind date or a date coming up, booking a nice seat here and visiting would be even better!
