Dongnae hair salon: mid-pregnancy volume magic off the scalp, Chamer
In short
Chamer is a hair salon on Jungang-daero 1367beon-gil in Dongnae, Busan. During the stable second trimester, on her first salon visit in a year, the writer had a layered cut and volume magic (a Korean smoothing perm) at Chamer, with the solution applied section by section so it never touched her scalp; after 4 hours her hair was silky with natural C-curl ends. For pregnant women with semi-curly hair who worry about perm solution on the scalp, Chamer is worth a visit if you set aside plenty of time.

Why I visited Chamer, a Dongnae hair salon, in mid-pregnancy
My hair is seriously, seriously semi-curly, and after getting pregnant I couldn't do a thing with it. Then my stable mid-pregnancy period arrived, and I got a layered cut and volume magic at Chamer in Dongnae, Busan. I figured it was finally time to do my hair, so I went to Chamer, a Dongnae hair salon known for doing hair well.
Where is Chamer and how is the parking?
Chamer is at 69 Jungang-daero 1367beon-gil, Suite 202, Dongnae-gu, Busan. It is open 10:00-20:00 and closed every Tuesday. There's parking too.

The salon is at the back gate of Lucky Apartment, a 13-minute walk from Minam Station and Dongnae Station, across from Seokjeong Galbi. There's a bus stop a 1-minute walk away, so it's easy by public transport, but if you drive, you can park in the private lot of Samsanjang Gogijip on the building's 1st floor.

Chamer's atmosphere and waiting area
Chamer is on the 2nd floor, and one flight up you reach a clean, bright, white-toned salon.

The first thing I noticed walking in was how well ventilated it is. There was none of that typical hair salon smell, and the space felt wide and pleasant.

As you'd expect from a Dongnae salon famous for good hair, there were lots of customers even on a weekday, but it seemed the staff manage things so that no one's paths cross.

I booked ahead on Naver and was able to start right at my reservation time. The waiting area is spacious too, so it's comfortable whether you come with a friend or arrive early.

Hair condition and consultation: volume magic instead of a layered C-curl perm
I originally wanted a layered C-curl perm, but the Chamer team leader recommended volume magic and promised to bring out a C-curl in the lower part as much as possible, so I decided right away.
Ta-da, my hair at the time. Yes, after living like a caveman for almost a year, my frizz was serious and my ends were all split, a total disaster. And the shocking truth is that this was after I'd straightened it at home with a flat iron haha

The layered cut is done in two rounds
At Chamer they started with the layered cut, and they said they split the cut into two rounds to get the best finish. They cut to the length you want first, then wet the hair and apply the product.

Can pregnant women get volume magic? Product applied lifted off the scalp
Because I'm pregnant, I asked them to apply the product lifted away from my scalp, and the Chamer team leader divided my hair into sections and applied it carefully so nothing touched the scalp.
I still had a lot of last year's straightening in my lower hair, so to keep the lower part from getting damaged, they split the application into two rounds. They applied to the roots first and did heat treatment, then applied once more to the lower part and did heat treatment again. It doubles their work, but it's all to make your hair pretty!

Gentle product, 3 heat rounds, leave plenty of time
They did heat treatment 3 times in total. Chamer doesn't use strong product; instead they use a gentle one and watch it for a somewhat longer time, and they said this process is very important. So I recommend coming with plenty of time.

They even applied heat protection cream midway so the hair doesn't get damaged, which they said helps prevent the dryness, splitting and brittleness that come with heat perms.

Flat-iron work and the C-curl ends
After the product is applied and the waiting is over, it's the important flat-iron time. They divide the hair into thin sections and pull it straight carefully, with a master's touch. For the lower part, they curled it under so I'd get the C-curl I wanted.

I'm already excited about the result!

Spray neutralizer, massage-chair shampoo and moisture care
Neutralizing is done with a spray-type neutralizer and finishes quickly, in about 3 to 5 minutes.

Finally, I moved to Chamer's massage-chair bed for a shampoo and moisture care while getting a massage. The moisture treatment has to sit for about 10 minutes, so you can relax comfortably with a massage.

The result after 4 hours of volume magic
After the shampoo I came out for one more cut, and the volume magic was finally done after a full 4 hours. Ta-da, shiny, silky hair is born! The lower part curls in slightly into a natural C-curl, and my hair is so much better.
After living with dry, frizzy hair, I headed home happily with my hair swishing around haha If you're looking for a Dongnae hair salon that does hair well, no need to hesitate: I recommend coming to Chamer!
