Seongsu Station date pasta spot with tableside omurice: Seongsu Darak
In short
Seongsu Darak is a pasta and omurice restaurant on the 2nd floor at Ttukseom-ro 9-gil in Seongsu-dong, Seoul. On a Seongsu date, a couple arrived around 6:20pm, waited about 10 minutes behind 2 groups, and ordered rosé pasta, omurice and Darak Ade. Staff cut the omurice at the table and asked first whether they wanted to film it. Verdict: Seongsu Darak is worth the wait and worth revisiting for a Seongsu date-night dinner.

Where is Seongsu Darak, and can you park?

Seongsu Darak (성수다락) is a Seongsu pasta spot on the 2nd floor at 20 Ttukseom-ro 9-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, about a 10-minute walk from Seongsu Station Exit 3. My boyfriend and I were on a date in Seongsu and couldn't decide on dinner, so we ended up at Seongsu Darak, which gets recommended a lot as a Seongsu pasta place. It isn't far from the station, so it works well as part of a date route.

There is no parking support, so I'd suggest taking public transport or using a nearby public car park. Hours are weekdays 11:30am to 9:15pm, and last order for dinner is 8:30pm.
What are the atmosphere and the dinner wait like at Seongsu Darak?

You climb a narrow staircase to get in, so it really feels like stepping into an attic, just like the name (darak means attic). The entrance alone has a distinctive vibe, and there are tables on both the 2nd and 3rd floors. We were shown to the 2nd floor, and the cute, charming decor made it feel like a great spot for a date or a blind date.

When we arrived around 6:20pm there were about two groups ahead of us, and we got in after waiting roughly 10 minutes.
Does ordering while you wait get the food out faster?
At Seongsu Darak, we were handed a menu while waiting and ordered in advance.

We ordered the rosé pasta, the omurice (omelet rice), and a Darak Ade. Maybe because we'd finished ordering in line, the food came out relatively fast once we sat down.
What the Darak Ade tastes like
The Darak Ade came first. It's a pineapple-flavored ade with bits of fruit pulp you can chew, and I loved how refreshing it was. It pairs well with rich Western dishes, so it's a good drink to order alongside.
Does Seongsu Darak cut the omurice for you?

Yes, a staff member cuts the omurice right at your table, and they asked first whether we wanted to take photos. I run a blog, so I turned on my camera right away! The moment the knife went in, the egg flowed down so softly and looked so tempting. Eating it together with the rice and sauce inside, the balance was great.

Is the white topping on the rosé pasta a poached egg?
No, the white on top of the rosé pasta is fresh cream, not a poached egg, and you mix it in with the ragù sauce. The pasta that followed was a bit darker in color than an ordinary rosé pasta. I thought the white was a poached egg at first too! With minced meat in the sauce, the flavor felt even richer, and it had a different charm from the rosé pasta I'd had at other Seongsu pasta restaurants.
Is Seongsu Darak worth revisiting for a Seongsu date dinner?

Seongsu Darak was a Seongsu pasta spot where I was happy with the atmosphere as well as the food. In the past, pasta mostly felt like just an okay taste to me, but here, from the omurice performance to the rich flavor of the rosé pasta, it stuck in my memory. I was especially impressed by the attentive service, with staff asking first whether we wanted to take photos.
My boyfriend had eaten a late lunch about 3 hours before, yet we both nearly finished the rosé pasta and omurice and were really satisfied. Having been there, I fully understand why there's a wait, and if you're planning a date in Seongsu, I think it's worth a visit once.
Next time I'd like to try the other popular dishes at Seongsu Darak too. It was such a satisfying meal that I'd happily come back whenever I'm in Seongsu.
