Thick, dense brows: why I went to Mio Brow Bar

I'd been tidying my brows at home and left a few bare spots, so I went to Mio Brow Bar, an eyebrow shaping studio in Magok. I have bangs these days and usually do my own brows, so I don't visit brow waxing salons often. The problem is that my brows are very dark and very thick 🤣 Doing them myself left patches, and I honestly didn't know how far to trim. I wanted a professional's hands on them for the first time in a while, so I went to Mio Brow Bar.

Mio Brow Bar is at 344 Yangcheon-ro, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, Unit 145-3 on the 1st floor, about 55 m from Exit 8 of Yangcheonhyanggyo Station. It's open 11:00-22:00 and is fully reservation-based, but same-day bookings are possible.

How to get to Mio Brow Bar from Exit 8 of Yangcheonhyanggyo Station

Mio Brow Bar is close to Exit 8 of Line 9's Yangcheonhyanggyo Station. It's in Building B of Daebang DMC Officetel Phase 1, and the entrance can be a little confusing the first time. From Exit 8, head toward Yeomjeon Udon (a noodle shop), then look for the flower shop beside the escalator on the right. Go through the two shared entrance doors next to the flower shop and it's right there on your right!

There are also signs inside the building pointing the way to Mio Brow Bar, which helped me find it.

Mio Brow Bar's exterior and interior vibe

A neat English sign reading MIO BROW BAR hangs at the entrance. The interior uses white and black, so the whole place feels clean and uncluttered! Inside, it's decorated in white tones too.

With cute little props, a full-length mirror and even a small fridge, it was secretly adorable.

The treatment area had a bed and waxing tools neatly arranged. The treatment space is separate, so it seems like a comfortable place to be pampered.

Thick, dense brows: eyebrow waxing before and after

No more small talk!!!! Better to show the before and after first, right? My brows are naturally dark and thick. The owner of Mio Brow Bar didn't just look at the shape of my brows; she carefully checked how I use my face muscles too. Apparently a brow isn't just about matching the left and right shapes: the impression also changes with how the muscles move and where the brow bone sits.

Looking at the before photo again, the brows themselves are really dark and thick. There were quite a few stray hairs around them too.. so the overall outline looked blurry.

After the wax, the line was set without changing my original look too much, and with the stray hairs around it cleaned up, it's far neater! Especially once the underside and the tail were tidied, the whole brow shape looked sharper, and my droopy brows looked a little lifted!

Eyebrow care tips shared during the treatment

While waxing, the owner of Mio Brow Bar explained my brow shape and how to care for it. I used to go for brow waxing a lot, and plenty of places just shape everything into a straight line ㅠ.ㅠ But throughout the treatment she advised me on what shape my brows are, which areas to watch when tidying them day to day, and which direction to take care of them so they look natural, and I loved that!

The eyebrow wax takes about 20 minutes, which is short, but I enjoyed it. Friendly, and explaining things along the way: isn't that what a real professional is?

Aftercare and final thoughts

When the wax was done, Mio Brow Bar even gave me aloe gel to soothe any redness! She also said that if you get brow waxing repeatedly and regularly, the hair gets thinner and becomes easier to manage.
