Yongsan tteokbokki combo, delivery spice levels compared: Hyeonseonine

Do you all have a soul food? Hahaha. I really love chicken and tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), especially the spicy kind! I'd heard so much about how good Hyeonseonine's tteokbokki in Yongsan is, so I'd already ordered it for delivery at home. Then I got the chance to visit the actual store! Here's my review from that visit, plus how spicy the medium level really is 😊

Where is Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch, and what are its hours?

Hyeonseonine Tteokbokki Yongsan Main Branch is at 2-13 Hangang-daero 39-gil, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and it's open daily from 11:00 to 24:00. Last order is at 22:40, and there's no parking, so you'll need to use a nearby paid lot.

No parking, but it's a quick walk from Sinyongsan Station! It's near Yongsan Station and Sinyongsan Station, and since the weather's been nice lately I strolled over slowly ^^ I could spot Hyeonseonine from a distance, so it was easy to find!!!

Knowing this is the main branch, I walked in excited — the main branch is always the good one, right,,?!! Haha

Menu and prices: ordering the Hyeonseon Combo Set in medium spice

I was tempted by the jeuktteok (instant tteokbokki cooked at the table) too, but ended up ordering the Hyeonseon Combo Set!!! I went with medium spice, which is a bit hotter than Shin Ramyun, and apparently the most popular level, so I gave it a try!! I've had both mild and spicy through delivery, and the spicy version was way hotter than Sinjeon's!!~

The self-bar is clean and tidy too. Sundae salt, soy sauce, and aprons are all set out ^0^~~ I excitedly grabbed what I needed and headed to my seat hahaha

How big is the Hyeonseon Combo Set, and how spicy is medium?

They said the Hyeonseon Combo Set serves 2, but I think 3 people could easily eat it!!! The portion is really generous 🫢 It's delicious as delivery too, but you know eating it fresh and hot at the restaurant is even better><

You can choose the sundae (blood sausage) organs!! I love organs so I added them in hahaha. The fried snacks were varied and tasty, but the tteokbokki portion was really huge, and the medium spice wasn't overwhelming at all — just the right amount of delicious!!! For reference, I can handle even Yeoptteok's original and spiciest levels, so keep that in mind when judging the heat!!

Is Hyeonseonine worth it for tteokbokki in Yongsan?

Yongsan has all kinds of restaurants! Whenever you're near Yongsan Station, whether eating alone, on a date, with a group, or grabbing lunch, deciding what to eat can be tricky. When that happens, Hyeonseonine Tteokbokki Yongsan branch is definitely worth a visit~~! I noticed a lot of couples ordering the jeuktteok (instant tteokbokki), and I think this is a great place to enjoy that style, which has become rarer these days haha. The store is also clean and tidy, so it was comfortable to use ^^ Since it's close to the station, it's perfect for a leisurely walk over in this nice weather!!!

I'd also recommend it as a date spot, and both delivery and takeout are available!! If you love spicy food, definitely try the spicy level too!!! It's delicious in a different way from Yeoptteok — the broth has a bit more liquid, giving it a moist kind of texture..?!!! If you love tteokbokki, I really recommend visiting. Hyeonseonine Tteokbokki Yongsan Main Branch is famous for being loved by celebrities and YouTubers too..💝💝 I think I'll be eating here often from now on..🥰

The sweet potato fritters are so good, and the mini gimbap (seaweed rice rolls) are packed full and delicious too~~ That's my review of Hyeonseonine — I left full and happy :)

There's even a claw machine-style draw thing! Apparently there are meal kits inside, so if you're good at those games, it might be worth a try haha

If you've been wanting to try the main branch, don't miss it — go visit! It's open late, so it's a great tteokbokki spot for when the craving hits after work or overtime 😊 It's close to Sinyongsan Station too, so you can grab a bite and then check out IPARK Mall 💞
