Where to find Deo Chadol, a Gwacheon Science Museum-area restaurant

Deo Chadol is a duck BBQ restaurant on the first floor at 5 Dwitgol 2-ro, Gwacheon-si, Gyeonggi-do. It's equipped for groups, has infant chairs, takes reservations, offers Wi-Fi, and has parking available.

With school break on, I took my kid to the Gwacheon National Science Museum :) Date day with my second kid! I asked where she wanted to go and she said the science museum, so off we went. I thought we'd wander around for an hour or two and be done, but there was so much to see and try that it took way longer than expected haha.

After all that exploring, we got hungry, so we stopped by Deo Chadol, a restaurant near the Gwacheon Science Museum! There was parking right out front, which made things easy.

There's also a waiting area set up like this, so it's comfortable to wait even if there's a queue haha.

Why it's easy to bring kids: infant chairs and a self-bar microwave

Inside Deo Chadol there are infant chairs, and the self-bar even has a microwave. There were a lot of other diners inside, so I took photos of the emptier side!

Having an infant chair is such a plus!! (Also a microwave at the self-bar issue) *I figured it's probably there for warming up baby food.

The menu and what we ordered at Deo Chadol

Here's the menu at Deo Chadol, a Gwacheon Science Museum-area restaurant. It's known for grilled duck brisket and raw duck jumulleok, and there's a one-of-a-kind duck jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) made by a disciple of a former Blue House chef!

Since I was eating with my kid, I ordered the duck brisket for two, seafood egg soup, and grillable cheese.

The self-bar has fresh vegetables and various side dishes, plus a microwave, small plates, and cutlery — everything you need, so you can grab whatever you want.

Duck brisket: thin, quick to cook, and clean-tasting

Finally, the food! The duck brisket at Deo Chadol, a Gwacheon Science Museum-area restaurant, isn't beef brisket, so you need to cook it a bit more haha.

Thinly sliced duck brisket for two at Deo Chadol

It comes with grillable cheese, minari (water dropwort), mushrooms, onion, and a salad and perilla leaf pickles.

Time to grill the duck brisket. It's sliced thin, so it cooks up fast on the pan, and once it's browned it's savory and clean-tasting through and through! Thanks to the brisket's particular texture, it's not chewy at all and goes down easy haha.

My kid really loved it and ate a ton. When meat takes forever to cook or is too strongly seasoned, it's a bit of a hassle to feed a kid, but since this is thin and duck is good for you, I kept thinking I should feed her more of it~

It's great wrapped in a lettuce leaf or dipped straight in salt, and even people who find duck a bit much would honestly enjoy this without hesitation :)

The grillable cheese pairing my kid insisted I try

This is the grillable cheese and duck brisket combo my kid insisted I try! Crispy outside and chewy and savory inside — it's good on its own, but eating it with the meat gives you a whole different kind of savoriness! If your kid loves cheese, there's no way they won't love this.

The duck brisket at Deo Chadol, a Gwacheon Science Museum-area restaurant, is great eaten with the green onion kimchi that comes alongside, and it's also fantastic grilled together with the accompanying vegetables.

How was the seafood egg soup?

The last dish was seafood egg soup! I ordered this one because I wanted to try it myself. The egg soup is packed with seafood and really savory! There's a hint of sesame oil aroma, and thanks to the generous squid, mussels, and shrimp, it never got boring — after eating meat, this soup made my mouth feel totally refreshed!

If you're eating with your kid, there's also a non-spicy version, so feel free to choose that. (My kid doesn't like egg soup so I ordered the adult version, and it wasn't very spicy at all!)

A great stop for a meal after the science museum

Best of all, having such a good restaurant nearby the Gwacheon National Science Museum made the whole route convenient!! Visiting the science museum with a kid inevitably means a lot of walking, which is tiring, but coming to Deo Chadol, a restaurant near the Gwacheon Science Museum, fully recharged us haha.

If you're visiting the Gwacheon National Science Museum, stopping here for a meal afterward won't disappoint :)
